Except disregarding hindsight, sac rooms are not guaranteed spawns. So banking on that was a gamble from the start, it just so happens it didn't pay out. The option of any item often boils down to gamble on an outcome you can't predict or take a run winning item immediately.

Wafer is a boring item to bank on. Sac rooms aren't guaranteed and situational even if you get them. Best defense is a good offense.

I would argue glitched crown is THE item to go for in a death certificate run; yes, you have to time it and there’s a possibility of missing but it gives you far more options than anything in the game.

I would argue that binge eater is better because it is more reliable. Boring, but reliable. At the very least it gives you a temporary stat up + 2 random stats + heals you for 3 hearts whenever you find an item. Either that, or you could go for an item that immediately makes you so strong that you could beat the game. Normal-mode dogma comes to mind here as it literally gives you everything (it gives the wafer on normal as well). But yes, glitches crown is crazy and that makes it fun. It is also crazy good, if you get the timing down. So certainly an excellent choice.

It's funny how a small choice impacts the game, out of all the ideas Sin had for Death's Certificate it would seem Libra could have been the best one, with all the range ups the run could have been better, not broken, but less struggle bus-y Then again, in other time-line wafer could have been amazing had there been more sacrifice rooms, and even without the rooms it was a great defensive item

No. Never. First floor I almost always take Glitched Crown, as is my favorite item in the game, and the value when you get it in the first floor cannot be understated.

Nope i would maybe go to godhead or sacred heart you get 4 floors without sacred rooms and you are screwed and chances of getting something good in them BUT its personal choice and i admire the risk :)

With the appearance of vibrant bulb and crack the sky in the item room, I probably would have went with Rock Bottom, but I’m interested to see how this Wafer play pans out (yes, I’m typing this right after you got it)

There were a lot of good options to take into consideration, binge eater, glitched crown, and sacred orb being among the best choices but I feel the underrated choices were probably glyph of balance, soul locket, candy heart, or even keepers sack. Wafer was an odd choice but it’s respectable since it’s an evergreen survivability item.

I have to say that I really apreciate the fact that you went "off meta" as you say. It could potencialy be good. Even though I don't agree that the game didn't give you a Sac Room on purpose (as it is seeded and the game had no idea you were going for the Wafer), it was unfortunate that that's how it happened.

The wafer is fantastic and basically guaranteeing maxing out every sac room is a fun idea but it is a big gamble considering you first have to get a sac room and then on top of that get an actual good payout. Considering how rarely sinvicta likes to play on luck I'm sure this is a rare pick for his death certificate play. I mean he basically spends the rest of the episode making a case against this play

To get the most value out of death certificate while still trying to have fun with building a run, I would have ripped it in the starting room and grabbed sacred orb. Early sacred orb runs are always a lot of fun since you don’t have to worry so much about “nothing burger” items

after not playing for 2 years i finally beat Satan on hard mode after going devil deals and actually finding "Dad's key" in the dark chest, also finding "Pinking shears" to help me out just a few more runs and i will have a full achievement sheet on hard mode with Isaac!!

When you start with Death Certificate, the best option is just get Glitched Crown, the item just enables such a easier time, always giving extra options enabling you for strong run

I'm very accident prone, so I like the wafer play. Since the game can hear us when we make plans, I think you have to counter that with just picking chaos when it starts you with death certificate. The best way to thwart a plan is to just throw a swirling vortex of entropy at it. The game can't counter you if it has no control.

Hello once again moshpit. updating my dead god progress again today and i have fully finished samson unlocks today. had a pretty bad run when i was going for mother and then lost soul paid out with genesis and i used that on corpse 2 after getting all items i could and ended up getting tech x with crickets head and a bunch of damage and tears ups! safe to say lost soul saved my run!
