The game has more than words to explain itself. Its like if you tried to explain the pain of a broken leg to someone who never had his leg broken. You cant explain it you have to feel it. Or its like trying to explain colour without saying the name or mentioning objects that have that colour. Many things are rlly hard to explain because they have to be experienced

Simultaneous interpretation (translating what they just said while they also listening/remembering what they are still currently saying) is REALLY hard, and this guy did a fantastic job at it. Kojima likes to talk and talk, so you can't always wait for him to be done and remember every little thing he's said. Very good job.

there is just SO MUCH linguistic and social and personal context to account for, and so much calculation, so much raw intellectual workload, that goes into good translating. to see this done live is seriously amazing to me. it's like watching a *really* good jazz performance and just being dumbfounded at the creativity people are capable of in such tiny fragments of time. i'm sure there's so much that doesn't get translated as well as you'd like, or even well at all, but to put that out of your mind and keep dealing with this absolute torrent of information is endlessly impressive

This is interpreting, not translating. It's also the most common way to do it, it's done in international politics all the time. The reason he interprets as Kojima is talking is because he is interpreting the essence of what he is saying so that he can keep up with a long train of thought and allow Kojima to speak fully, rather than having to give basic answers so that it can be 'translated' word for word.

All these people talking about the interpreter who should have spoken after Kojima speaks, have no idea. That would be consecutive interpretation. However the interpreter was most likely asked by the organisers to interpret simultaneously, without equipment like headsets etc, and volume control, which is why it ends up like this, hard for the audience to understand cos there is so much talking at once. Which is why simultaneous interpretation almost always uses equipment (except for whispering).

And that guys translation skill is poor. @@krimsonk-9478 definitely, he is treating the character model as a living thing, that we as players live vicariously through, almost like playing god, but not really, it's deep. The expected realism, will cause the player to have a different experience than in most games where you just do, but here, you do, but also Norman, as Sam, does what he does, and we observe. We, in essence, are part of Norman, and part of Sam, and are, ourselves, as an observer and controller, like a cycle.
