I bought this game recently and so far I have been enjoying it (running it with a Ryzen 2700x and a basic for good enough AMD RX 570) the game looks and plays fine but I have noticed that after some play time the game has occasional stutters, and I can notice this more often during cutscenes, I don't think this is related to my PC beacuse usually the stutters randomly disappear after a while and I can play smooth butter again, but yeah in conclusion the game is quite optimized because runs very good in general but has annoying performance issues anyway, maybe related to not flushing unused assets or i don't know.

I'm sure I played it without stutter 4 years ago. 2 months ago without stutter if I activate vsync from the panel. Now "stutter" in any way. It's not frame drops, technically it's judder not stutter. However in game vsync is broken and always has been. The fix was to activate it from the control panel. Solution??

I have issues when going through tall foliage on the bike but that's it. If I stay still on the bike in it it's fine. But if I move the fps tanks. Specs, i7 10700f, 1660ti desktop, 16gb of ram. Other wise the game runs great even on the massive freeways

@@unclehowdy409 Nah, it will smooth out some small transitionary stutters but will not improve average framerate overall. Do you have any anti-aliasing applied in the NVidia control panel, by any chance? Or any other non-default values applied there?

I have a stutter in this game using a Ryzen 2600, how exactly did you fix it? I am deeply discouraged from playing.

The way I fixed it was to spend a month being given the run-around by 505 Games terrible support, and then I uninstalled the game and didn't launch it again. In this case, you may notice the stutter vanishes when you use the menu. It will return within a minute or so. No idea what the flying fuck is going on there, but it looks like Kojima Productions don't care.

@@MB-hq3rv In this case I really give up on this game, although I find the story interesting, most PC games are poorly optimized, so I avoid buying original games. Even the Watch Dogs 2 that is very poorly optimized is running better on my machine than the DS, disappointing that... Hugs from Brazil!

@@matheussouzarufino2657 I really love Death Stranding and have hundreds of hours on the PS version, however I feel I have exhausted every potential solution to this issue and have no choice but to move on. It sucks, but that's just the territory that comes with PC gaming these days. The issue seems to be with Ryzen processors, if that is of any use to you

@@MB-hq3rv same for me this is one of very few games I could not fix stuttering on. I've a 3090, 3800x, 32gb flare x ram 3200mhz, cl14, a.d a gen 4 nvme drive. It's the only game that I get stutters on. Digital foundry mentioned some stuttering on ryzen cpu not present in intel cpus that's the only thing I can think of

Just got this game and also suffer with this micro stutter/judder on my duelsense 5. How has hardly anyone else on forums mentioned this! Its so frustrating and this is one of those games i kinda dont want to use a keyboard and mouse for

Sad to hear it was never fixed... I plan to test on Steam Deck soon, but will probably be hard to tell as it won't reach 60fps reliably. It's not a dualsense issue, just so you know. I tested with every controller under the sun, Nintendo, Xbox, PS, with / without steam input / DS4Windows, USB and Bluetooth. Something is super messed up in this game, it triggers once you enter the second part of the map, and the only way to fix it is a.) For like ten to sixty seconds, by opening a d-pad menu, or b.) Use KB+M. Cannot believe this game won awards for its PC port.

@MB-hq3rv that's one of the reasons I thought I'd get it on pc and not ps5 is hearing about how well optimised it is! Really annoying that this has happened, tired everything and still no fix. Thank you for your reply and I'll have another play around with it tommorow to see what I can find

@@aubreygoodchild2574 That's why I tend to make these videos of issues that are not well acknowledged by the mainstream. It's nice to have some reassurance that it's not actually a problem on your machine, when you're tearing your hair out trying to work out why a game that everyone says is "buttery" smooth or whatever has obvious stutters and skips. PS5 in particular has proved to me that most people simply don't notice when 60fps isn't properly paced and consistent.

Yup, this was never fixed and it sucks, was hoping they would address it in the Directors Cut but nope. People get confused about what the issue is, it's not FPS drops - as you show you have a locked 60fps. It's the framerate consistency, and it's also intermittent. You can be strolling in the mountains and it will be perfect, but then get near a structure/town and this rears its head. Re-load the game it's fine, walk 100 steps and it comes back. As you shown you can eleminate it very briefly by using your menu, but it will just come back. Switching to Photo Mode shows what it should look like, a perfectly paced 60fps. I also contacted 505 games when this occurred with the original with no response. At least with something like The Last of Us you can brute-force it to get solid performance, this will be permanently screwed on the PC.

Go to windows 10 power plan, chose high performance instead of balanced, that worked for me.

@@adilboos Hell yeah dude. And everything at the time still holds true, despite new components, rebuild of PC, full dust out, so many windows re-installations that I legitimately know my product key off-by-heart.. I can't fix it. But, like I said - it works fine on keyboard. So that's how I've had to play, and I've had zero issues since. The stutter definitely appears at chapter 3, and never goes. Having restarted the game, it was butter smooth on the first map again, so I know for a fact that it is nothing to do with my hardware or configuration. If I had to guess, its my AMD processor, but honestly I have no clue. Equally odd is the way that opening the DPAD menu totally eliminates the stutter when using a controller, and it wont come back for 10-60 seconds. I have tested this THOROUGHLY. Something really fuckin odd is going on with this game.

Same issue here. Ryzen processor too. Gsync doesn’t help, I don’t even think gsync works properly tbh. Every frame rate except even multiples of monitor’s refresh rate is not smooth.

GSync works perfectly in this game. The reason it doesn't feel good is because the stutter isn't actually a framerate drop. It's some bug with the on-screen transformation logic if I had to guess. I can clearly see my frametime is solid at without any variance when the stutter occurs. If you want to play this game on PC past chapter 3, it seems to me that you HAVE to do it with a keyboard and mouse. Hitman 3 has a kind of similar issue on PC and PS5 but its way worse. Curiously, hardly anyone seems to notice it, but I'm fairly sure its nothing to do with my hardware as it's identical on both PC and PS5.

@@MB-hq3rv i can see stutter spikes with frame time graph but more importantly if I lock the game to 142Hz on 144Hz monitor, it is not smooth. Same with my gsync compatible TV.

@@rzkazemi in that case, you're having a different issue. This stutter is not present on any monitoring software, and GSync has absolutely zero issues with DS. I would look at your configuration - try with and without a frame limiter, with and without Nvidia Vsync enable etc. Run HWiNfo during a gameplay session and check the usage across your GPU and CPU cores

Good on you, dude. This PC port was basically a scam as far as I am concerned - I have tested on many PCs now, both Intel and AMD. Game's busted. Works fine on keyboard and mouse, and for the intro to the game. But once chapter 3 starts, so does the stutter. Repeated this testing on new games twice - it was the same both times. Smooth as silk in area 1, everything after the boat it unplayable.

@@christianfigueroa8392 You want to see something absolutely stupid that definitively proves it's the game, not the machine running? Play it on your controller. Wait for the stutter to start. When it starts, hold the DPad until the HUD comes up. Even if you just open it for a single second, the stutter will be gone when you close the HUD. Unfortunately, it will return within 10-30 seconds.

Mem streaming does not affect this issue. Not sure what setting in particular you are referring to within the NVCP, either. Either way, I have resolved this issue for now. In order to fix it, I deleted my savegame and restarted the game playing with keyboard and mouse only. It's ridiculous I've had to resort to that, but at least it's working smoothly for now. I have just arrived at the area that produced the stuttering for me on my previous savegame. So far, so good, but maybe it will turn to shit when I progress a bit further. We shall see.

The game is good, but unfortunately it has a lot of FPS drops. Even if you have a hardware requirement above the recommended. Too much instability. I've done everything here, everything. reinstalled windows 10, optimized the same for games, latest AMD adrenaline PRO VGA drive, Pl Mother Chipset drive, did all the tutorials regarding the game on youtube to try to solve the problem, but without success, I've even given up, I've never broken so much stick in a game. I paid R$160.00 reais for the Director's version to not be able to play decently. eu te entendo, fui pesquisar pra ver se havia alguma solução para os stutters e lag, mas não achei muita coisa, o jogo roda com muitos frame drops.
