I'm personally an eldrazi and taxes kind of guy, the mix between taxing effects and playing big stompy spaghetti monsters is just peak magic to me.
@nathanaelmcmahan8722 жыл бұрын
I actually agree with this. I just got back into MTG after almost a decade after I snagged up eldrazi nobody wanted. Didn't realize my collection was worth that much. I've been doing pretty good in modern and have been winning or going 2-1. I use voids instead of taxes. Chalice and Winnower. Turn 3 chalice for 3 or 1. Turn 4 Winnower. Have fun playing CMC 5 and odd numbers only. I may put some taxes in for experimentation since I have the stuff.

I just got back into modern and i also play eldrazi taxes before. I wonder why i dont see it in the current meta right now. I like playing Eldrazi Displacer and its flicker ability, i think its still great.

I played EnT for 3 years, and it's my favorite deck ever to date. But it doesn't function in current Modern. Removal is far too plentiful for a game plan that requires sticking two or 3 creatures on the board, and everything else is just too fast
@dennisthepeasent2202 жыл бұрын
The deck is fun but the lack of card selection and the presence of a lot of cards that require some specific circumstances to be really good means you end up with some really awkward draws if your taxes don’t hit or get answered. Wasteland strangler for example feels AWFUL right after someone removes your tidehollow sculler. Or if your opponent just doesn’t have anything in exile. Plus putting an exiled card back into your opponents graveyard really sucks when murk tide is in the format

Love all your videos but as a DnT player I have to say, GW DnT nowadays is niche at best and I've never seen a decklist with Noble Hierarch, Oath of Nissa or even Boseju.
@bandoftheredhandmtg2 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna have to correct you a bit. DNT is a very strong deck against tron. We literally run mainboard land destruction. I have never lost a match to a tron deck. Games sure but not a match so far.

Welcome back D&T, Post MH3 this deck got 4 peices that make it much more of a playable archetype, and coming soon a replacement for thalia comes in assassin's creed.
@cecilevans92472 жыл бұрын
1 thing you got wrong: D&T is very good against Tron. I've grinded a bunch on MTGO and I'm not sure I've lost to Tron. Thalia + Arbiter and Ghost Quarter makes the matchup quite difficult for Tron. 1 thing you forgot: You can use Flickerwisp to reset Kaldra/Batterskull if needed, or steal it back if they take your equipped germ with something like Archmage's charm.
@cecilevans92472 жыл бұрын
Idk. Maybe the fact that I play 60 cards instead of 80 allows me to more consistently get the cards I need to slow down Tron and kill them.

As a dnt player, how do you deal against control? (Jeskai, Esper, mono B, UW, etc..)
@AmmiO2 Жыл бұрын
Quick answer: You either mana deny them with Thalia/Wasteland or you have to outgrind them. Palace Jailer is great against low creature count control decks.
@Ian-mi2li Жыл бұрын
@@AmmiO2 Thanks! Sadly, Palace Jailer is not legal in modern. What do you think about cheap Planeswalkers like Gideon Blackblade or Gideon Ally of Zendikar against control?
@AmmiO2 Жыл бұрын
@@Ian-mi2li Woops, I saw this comment on D&T and thought it was for the LEGACY video I posted recently. D&T is not in a good place in Modern presently. That being said, if the Thalia/Arbiter mana denial plan fails, the best you can do is try and grind them out, probably with Stoneforge Mystic. There's value in partially blanking counterspells with Aether Vial. The Gideons are not at a power level sufficient for Modern and any 3+ mana noncreature spells are awkward with Thalia.

Actually, I prefer the monoW version of this deck, but GW Is still solid thanks to hierarch and Ooze, or at least I would play them
@Bommah4472 жыл бұрын
I feel like ooze is even less of a reason to splash G when Lion Sash does the same job and is fetchable with stoneforge mystic
@cecilevans92472 жыл бұрын
@@Bommah447 yup. Hierarch is a really bad reason to play green in a deck that can't play fetch lands. Now you can argue that Noble Fixes mana, but that alone isn't a reason to play 2 colors.

Just because a deck exists in a format, doesn't mean it's any good. D&T has almost no favorable match-ups in the most played decks, it's a casual modern deck at best.
@cecilevans92472 жыл бұрын
Look at its tournament results. It puts up about 1% of the top 8s in modern tournaments. Much better than a lot of other stuff. It's favorable against Amulet Titan, and is definitely capable of crushing decks like Crashing Footfalls, Jund, and Tron. Combo can have a lot of trouble with the grave hate and Thalias too. It's much better than you think.
@cecilevans92472 жыл бұрын
Correction: It is not favorable against Amulet. Not entirely sure why I said that. That's actually a bad matchup. Everything else I said was spot on though.
