Death Valley Brill Car No.5 at Laws Museum - Bishop,CA

Enjoy a ride on the Death Valley Railroad Brill Car No. 5 at the Laws Railroad Museum in the Eastern High Sierra near Bishop, California. Built in 1927, this is the only restored narrow gauge Brill car in North America. Fully restored in 2004, visitors can take rides on the motor car during the Summer months, on select weekends, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Very well done video! If you ever get a chance to revisit Laws for another video you should talk about all of the displays there and the need for volunteers and donations to keep the museum going. Specific to the Brill Car is donations and labor to lay the 3000 ft of track the museum currently has south along the old C&C right of way to extend the Brill Car's route out into the Owens Valley.

DVRR #5 did not actually transport tourists to the Furnace Creek Inn, it transported visitors to the Death Valley View Hotel in Ryan. From there, people could take a motor coach to the Furnace Creek Inn if they so desired.

The East Broad Top M-1 in Rockhill Furnace, PA is a narrow gauge gas-electric Brill motor car, and is still in operable condition. So your claim of the only narrow gauge car in America is indeed false.

Thanks for commenting. My Brother and I did some research on Brill Car No.5 before I narrated the video, including his archive collection of railroad books and an on-line search and did not come across any info on your Brill car. If we had, I certainly would have mentioned it.

parails He probably came across a source in his research reading "that it is the only remaining narrow gauge Model 55 Brill Car in existence" and mistook it to mean that it is the only remaining narrow gauge Brill Car period. The factual error aside, it is still a very well done video.
