Hwoarang has been an iconic character since Tekken 3 You really didn't think he would be in the game ? Let's go through this.. Characters who are already confirmed: Hwoarang, Jack 8, Jin, Kazuya, King, Lars, Law, Leroy, Paul Asuka, Jun, Lili, Nina, Xiaoyu 14 so far.. These are the characters that simply should be (tempted to even say WILL be) in the game because of their history and popularity: Bryan, Dragunov, Eddy, Feng, Lee, Steve, Yoshimitsu Alisa, Raven Kuma/Panda Which puts the total up to 24/25 (depending on what they do with Kuma/Panda. Imagine they made those 2 into 1 character LOL) Others that might show up in starting roaster or as DLC: Armor King (Likely due to his popularity. Perhaps one of the first Guest characters) YES Bob (Most likely because of having someone in their game who represents fat people) YES Bruce (I really think this iconic character should have already been in Tekken 7) YES Claudio (Hmm.. Likely due to his uniqueness and cool (?) Fighting style) YES Devil Jin (I don't think so, after now having been fused with Jin. MAYBE guest character) YES Heihachi (It would just be dumb at this point in a starting roaster but perhaps as a guest character) YES Marduk (Probably, as he has been in every Tekken since 4) YES Lei (Iconic, should be in the game. I think they failed by not having him in the T7 starting roster) YES Miguel (Interesting one.. Unique style and attitude. Was in starting roster of 6 and 7. So most likely in 8 too) YES Shaheen (Hmm.. Maybe, to have someone who represents that part of the world) YES Alisa (Isn't she a bit of an iconic character by now ? Very unique) YES Anna (Hmm.. I think she should be butt I'm not sure if she will be. Then again she was the first original Tekken guest character..) YES Josie (Hmm.. I personally love everything except her crying. Maybe coming back with a redesign) YES Julia (She should already be in the starting roaster by now, no ? So iconic and unique) YES Katarina (Maybe, because of her easy playstyle that caters to the casual players) YES Kazumi (Perhaps they will continue the story with her and thus she is relevant to the game) YES Leo (Probably to have a representative of those who do not label themselves as human or whatever. He, she, it). YES Lidia (Hmm.. Something tells me they are going to keep her. Very cool character and design. Could also make an epic opponent for Leroy. Perhaps just a one off in Tekken 7 as guest character, but they would be throwing away an awesome idea if they left her out of 8) YES Now we are at 43. Those who are unlikely to show up: Akuma (2D characters not in Tekken 8 + His story is finished) NO Ganryu (I don't know.. He is absolutely iconic tho and was in Tekken 6 + 7) NO Geese (2D characters not in Tekken 8) NO Gigas (I don't think so because of Jack 8 and Gigas was basically a failed experiment) NO Fuckyourmom (I doubt it, because I think they might be bringing Bruce back) NO Negan (It would be very surprising if he shows up in this game too) NO Noctus (Love his style and unique ability to use weapons. Unfortunately I guess just a one off) NO Eliza (Cool design and interesting style. again though the 2D character thing..) NO Kunimitsu (I adore this character. One of the coolest in the game, butt I don't know if she will make the cut) NO Lucky Chloe (Hmm.. Maybe because of the soft spot Harada seems to have for her and she is completely unique in style and looks. Hard to say..) NO Zafina (If she would return, would it just be for Arslan Ash ?) NO I absolutely think there will be guest characters in Tekken 8 Due to how much hype it generated and the ability to put more characters into the game after it's release. When it comes to the newest characters and who they might keep, it gets really interesting. Because if you look back at Tekken 6 starting roster, these are the ones that also starred in the Tekken 7 starting roster: Lars, Leo, Miguel, Alisa Therefore I strongly believe they will also be in the Tekken 8 starting roster. Then these made it from Tekken 6 into 7 as a guest: Armor King, Ganryu, Lei, Marduk, Anna, Julia, Zafina Maybe they wanted those 7 guest characters as a part of the starting roster in T7, butt they had to pick and choose because of the new ones they were adding: Akuma, Claudio, Gigas, Shaheen, Josie, Katarina, Kazumi, Lucky Chloe. Seeing how EVERY new character from Tekken 6 made it into Tekken 7 somehow, wouldn't it be likely they did the same for Tekken 8 ? Except for the 2D characters of course if they are not including that in the next game. Which means (according to my calculations and assumptions), that Tekken 8 might have a starting roster that looks kind of like this: Bob, Bruce, Bryan, Claudio, Dragunov, Eddy, Feng, Hwoarang, Jack, Jin, Kazuya, King, Lars, Law, Lee, Lei, Leroy, Marduk, Miguel, Paul, Shaheen, Steve, Yoshimitsu Alisa, Asuka, Josie, Jun, Julia, Katarina, Kazumi, Leo, Lidia, Lili, Lucky Chloe, Nina, Raven, Xiaoyu, Zafina, Kuma/Panda Which totalts 40 characters IF they do like they did with Tekken 7, it's likely the starting number will be close to 40. If Namco is to remove some from that list, it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being: Shaheen, Josie, Katarina, Kazumi, Lucky Chloe and Zafina. Leaving room for 6 brand new characters to make their debut in the Tekken universe.
