Another efficient tactic is to place 3 or 4 shields in the tower. Enemy archers can hardly kill the troops and siege at the top of tower when shields are placed.

Actually tried this same match but in maximum gold disadvantage, somehow managed to survive but not able to finish of at least one wolf, so ended on a stalemate

I dont know if it works on highest difficulty but dont enclose your keep. Leave it open with small passage into it and pack it with heavy armor units on ground and archers on walls, make it a killzone. AI will ignore the siege and walls, and focus all its units into passage since the keep is not enclosed.

The ol cripple your neighbors eco with volleys and engineers. I used mangonels heavily in the warpath thing as some of the setups were HEAVILY disadvantageous.. but mangonels, archers and the odd wildfire with fire ballistae usually pulls through.. stronghold is so much fun.

I used a lot more fire and opened walls to give the enemy ai a clear path at my keep. A clear fire pit of a path that is! Works pretty good cause it constantly drains them of supplies since they constantly attack the open keep
