Slade baited Bruce into the fight and distracted him with trash talk and personal burns letting Bruce get heated/emotional enough to get close so that Slade can deal the final blow. In the end Deathstroke won for being the smarter fighter.

Batman fully understands the concept he's just irrational and insane and politically stubborn, I don't even think he knows why he does what he does, he's simply pulled along by some invisible force of nature, and he can't bring himself to end the endless nightmare that is Gotham city because part of him is addicted to his way of life, which I get, because it looks exhilarating on the pages of a comic book or in a movie or video game. But yes, a Batman with the sort of chaotic and free mentality of Joker who also shows restraint and stoicism, would be scary af and have quite an advantage over normal Batman.

To call the willingness to kill an advantage is a very naïve statement, to say the least, vecause it's not an advantage. In fact, it's too easy of a thing to do, as Batman would put it. The wish or desire to kill someone, slowly or otherwise, is Batman's greatest enemy, which he fights everyday.

On top of that, Pagulayan's art has come a long way from his Planet Hulk days. And Priest writes the character as Wolfman would do, unlike the trash Higgins and Daniel run. It was so spot on.

Slade walked into Batman's home without his super suit, verbally abused Batman until he got so pissed off he couldn't feel a knife in his abdomen, and traded blows with him while he was using gauntlets intended for Superman. It may have been a draw, but Deathstroke definitely humbled Batman.

Slade outright admitted that if he fought Batman without his supersoldier enhancements? That he'll lose straight up..... that's after Batman inflicted too much damage that his healing factor couldn't keep up. Batman is skilled than most characters you can think of. The fact that he's not top 5 is straight up outlandish. But, he's not the only one that fought Deathstroke enhance. David Cain(whom taught Batman) held his own against him, Cassandra Cain came closer and so did Bronze Tiger, Nightwing manage to out maneuver Deathstroke because of his agility. Azrael stalemated Deathstroke as well in weapon skills, but, he did bested Batman in h2h(writers choice). Besides, what stopping Batman from ending Deathstroke is his moral code. People that complains about Deathstroke being better than Batman don't know what the hell their talking about.

Well Batman was winning most of this fight, and Slade snuck him with a blade, not to mention the fact that no matter what in the end of the fight they were BOTH unconscious, despite injuries no one died even though one of them (slade) fought with intent to kill. Mind you he’s a whole super soldier with an insane arsenal, with that being said In the next comic Batman wakes up earlier than slade despite his injuries. So technically it’s a victory for Batman because he got up first but since bats fell to a more fatal blow than slade did I’ll call it a draw.

The whole time, I'm wondering what comic this was, then the end made me realize, I definitely have the comic right after this, and I never knew how that went down. I am a huge Batman fan, but u have to understand that he is a peak human, while Deathstroke was created to be much more than that. On top of being trained, his intelligence, reflexes and strength were enhanced to a point where they simply trump whatever Batman brings to the table. As skilled as Bruce is, Wade's going to be able to see that punch, kick or batarang from a mile away. The only way Bruce gains an advantage is just like he did now, with trick sonar batarangs. Also, in this fight, remember the home advantage Batman has. DS literally took the fight to where BM has all his equipment. Yeah, he stashed a gun in there but BM had everything else. Take away the plot armor, and unfortunately (as a Batman fan), Deathsroke wins. His reaction time/speed/reflexes should have him gutting BM as he's reaching for whatever he has on the utility belt.

I've been a Batman fan since 1966. Still my favorite character..( even with all of the now pumped up and outlandish powers and abilities DC writers have embellished him with since the $ucce$$ of the Bat movies )... BUT - there is no way he could take out Deathstroke based on the creation of the character ... it does not add up one bit. How could Bats even survive a grenade explosion going off right in front of him while going toe to toe with DS ( Deathstroke's healing ability enables him to survive that, as it's been shown time after time in the DS comics AND DS's expert knowledge and use of guns and weapons? on top of all that DS can predict Bats moves before he even does them, which would make them ultimately useless.

As others have said; I don’t think Batman is humbled here. You could argue he left himself open and had home advantage, but, he doesn’t seem to take that advantage. Other than the power gloves. Also, as Batman said, it’s not just an ordinary man, he’s a super solider, so has advantages over Batman that way. With Batman countering with the power gloves. I think, if Batman was more like Slade, in terms of, killing without issue, like the Batman of injustice. He’d have taken him out quite easily on home turf. As Death battle would say It’s a Draw lol.

In slades prime he was either whooping Batman’s ass or he was holding back(which he admits from time to time).

One of the ONLY villains that gave Batman the most trouble in a straight up 1v1. Batman can lift 1000 pounds, but all that strength goes out the window against a enhanced super soldier merc who runs around toting Ikon armor, guns with armor piercing bullets, and God killing swords. I would disagree that he 'humbled' him, but more that he gave him a reality check him to not let your emotions lead you in a fight. Even though batman proved to be a better fighter, although not by much as they are both extremely talented fighters, batman got in to close and slade used that to his advantage to win the fight. Which, in the end, is all that matters. This is probably a fight he uses as an example to others as to why you should always fight calculated and smart like slade did.

@Rob Mohamedally yes it is. Deathstroke stalemated in his own batcave when Batman had power gauntlets- DS 2016 #34. Deathstroke beat him in the classic comics-Deathstroke 1991 #7. Deathstroke knocked him out twice in an issue even though both times Batman ambushed him-Detective Comics 710. Only after the third time did Batman manage to take him out. Batman beat him another time except it was revealed in the next issue he lost on purpose as part of his plan. Then when Deathstroke had two eyes and wasn't used to fighting with two since he used to have only one eye, he was slower and weaker and he stated he should have taken Batman in three moves. Even then though, he had Batman on the ropes, but Bruce got saved by Harley Quinn who hit him from behind. Even after all that, he again had Batman on the ropes, but Harley had left a bomb ticking which interrupted their fight-Deathstroke Volume 3 #5. Deathstroke is clearly superior. And don't try to bring up Tom King's Batman soloeing DS and Deadshot. Its ridiculous along with all his other writing like Catwoman soloeing three Flashes, a whistle taking down Superman, Batmans head being intact after being punched by Batman, and etc. ..

Slade is one of the few characters in the DC universe that actually does pose a serious problem for Batman, mostly because he is the same in so many ways. Like Batman, Slade is a genius level tactician, a master martial artist, and a brilliant detective in his own rite. Batman might have a slight edge as a martial artist, but Slade's enhancements more than make up for the difference. Plus, Slade's intellect is in the same ballpark as Batman's, and his will is every bit as strong. Batman vs Deathstroke is one of the best fights in comics, and one of the closest to call. I think Slade would ultimately win because he can take more punishment, and would get back up sooner (which is actually what ends up happening here).
