Very nice review from an interesting perspective. I just received my Yggdrasil more is less yesterday (I purchased this version as it was what was in stock) I also received the RME ADI2 last week for a second system , and had the auralic g1 prior to that ….. I wasn’t sure I would be able to hear the differences and DACS as much as I do. Now it is know that the Schiit ygg has to warm up for days however the difference was evident already and very pleasing. I a, super glad I went this route Connected to nucleus using nucleus streamer, Luxman 509x and dynaudio heritage specials I have a micro rendu on the way for my other system and wondering if the streamers make a difference Thanks for the review

Pedro. I am a musician as well of 40 years. Try a Marantz HD DAC1. You will only find it on the used market now. But I have tried the following high end DACs. Topping D90SE. Which I think is horrible. Doesn’t sound real at all. The Venus II now which I have on loan. This is good at layering but again is not as real sounding. A tad rolled off. The benchmark DAC3 which I tried was very very good. Musical sounding but wasn’t as good as my Marantz DAC for realism. I tell this to others and they don’t believe me. But as musicians we not only know how instruments sound but we also are so intimate with them that we know their tactile response and how they actually feel while playing. Try a Marantz HD DAC1 if you can. Cheers

Do you find this Yiggy dac excels at soundstaging as in layer depth and air around instruments more than other dacs?

It's got lots of detail but a little bit harsh in my opinion. At the other extreme is the denafrips ares ii. I actually use the ifi diablo now as my reference dac. It's the most 3d I have heard in my sistem, but I haven't heard everything out there

No, I didn't perceive it that way. But your Chord it's probably more musical, although I have not heard it myself. I have a soft spot for FPG stuff

Los discos o formatos digitales OEM pueden llegar a sonar tan análogos, como quieran dejarlos que suenen en su masterizacion he ahí el gran detalle, no es en si una culpa de la tecnología o el formato o el tipo de señal, es el Master el trabajo final de cómo es que quisieron dejarlo sonando, la prueba está en que si tú grabas un vinil en una grabadora digital y si los comparas sonará igual tal cual son modificar ganancias, y si no es así algo anda mal en los equipos. Excelente DAC de Schiit Yggdrasil
