Something I've witnessed, being an indoor grower, is that when the plants are healthy, and conditions are dialed in, you rarely will have bug populations explode. They'll still be a few bugs there, especially if you have a lot of plants, but their natural defenses can handle it. Bugs only tend to attack plants that are in a weakened state - need water, need food, too hot, etc. Iirc, some insects can hear the ultrasonic sounds produced by the plants when they are under drought stress ( Something about cell walls cracking if memory serves me right )

That would explain dust mites attraction

Insects can attack any plant weakened state can increase the odds, but if you are in sterile inside conditions you have other factors in your favor in general.

I tried ladybugs for the first time this year after I saw a few whiteflies. I bought two batches of 1500 each. I saw a few of the caterpillars but nothing like last year when they were in my whole crop. This year thanks to the ladybugs it was a more successful season.

Thank you Prof. 👍 My venture with cedar oil was a complete fail and I lost a plant to spider mites. I’ve gone back to predator mite sachets I had great success the first outbreak using them.

@@DeBaccoUniversity I got my first successful crop thanks to you. It was on track to develop iron deficiency which I spotted from your leaf damage types video which then lead me to realise I was depriving of other traces by using unblended coco coir so I added those at the right times and I ended growing huge buds on really healthy plants. I think the spider mites where transferred physically to the plant by touch rather than attracted by poor condition. I’ve just been picking all the leaves with white spots for now to keep their numbers down. I received 2 new clones off a friend and highly suspect they are the cause. Next time I’m using a quarantine incubator for any new clones coming in.

I used to pick off all the spiders and webs from my outdoor crops mainly leaf rolling spiders (no pun intended) and orb-weaver spiders but now I leave them alone. Natural pest management.

Sounds like it could be very effective.

I’m down here in S.E.AZ. Nothing but cotton fields. Plants outside can be hit hard with white fly’s. During Bud time. How can I control them without harming the buds? Don’t they also excrete sticky sugars?
@DeBaccoUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Since you know the time of the expected issue, time your application of the beneficial insects to match.
