I feel like crying....what a time to have grown up in. The 80s will never be repeated again and I mean EVER!!! Such talent, beauty, stage presence, should I go on lol. That kick ,snatch the microphone & drop into the choreography was friggin the best. Sheila E was a beast with those drum sticks. Seen her live a few times, once with Prince in London, UK. I remember dragging my teenage son at the last minute to come with me as a friend of mine dropped our, he didn’t know who she was until he Googled her on the way back from the show. He said “mum, am I allowed to swear’ as he was sooo shocked how gorgeous she was in her hey-day (she still is)! Too funny! He was also happy that as we were close to the stage she gave him a hi five and wink so that memory will always stay with him! ❤️❤️❤️

MrVeesworld don't be so blindly nostalgic that you ignore the incredible talent of the present and unfairly dismiss it.
@leeving29999 жыл бұрын
D Jones we are not blindly nostalgic were are just tired of being assaulted with really awful artists and bands . Shelia E could drum with the best of the men but due to other talents she never got a real chance to . Gina Schock also was a monster on the drums but never got to shine because of Belinda Carlisle . Schock went on to play with some of the greatest groups of all time . So nostalgia has nothing to do with people saying Meg White truly does suck , she doesn't even look like she cares and we have seen females from the 70's and 80's ( and later ) master the art of playing the drums. Sadly we got to survive The Spice Girls , Black Eyed Peas , boy bands and worse so we do miss better times . In our " nostalgia" though we can admit truths . There were horrid 80's band and Sid Vicious never could play bass even though people thought he was a God at it . He was unplugged almost every time he played and Glen Matlock recorded all the bass in ' Never Mind The Bullocks' even though he was fired . The only difference I see between Meg White and Sid is that Meg is alive . Forgive our love of Shelia , it is not nostalgia it is the fact that she plays like a boss .

+Janelle Lizotte Was The Time with them at show you saw? I was lucky enough to see Prince , Sheila E and The Time on New Years 84/85 on Purple Rain Tour. It was an awesome show by all performers. RIP Prince and thank you

@@beatlesfantoo I think The Time disbanded before the Purple Rain Tour..... I know Sheila E opened for Prince during that tour.....Morris Day left the Time before the tour....

@@rjackson3784 The Time & Sheila E did open for Prince in Dallas Dec 30 & 31 1984 and Jan 1 1985. I know because I was there. The Time disbanded later in 1985. There were 2 legs to the Purple Rain Tour - Leg 1- Nov 4 1984 thru Feb 4 1985.....Leg 2-Feb 14 1985 thru April 7 1985....Perhaps Leg 2 didn't have The Time.

@@beatlesfantoo I went to the shows on the 30th and 31st, I remember Sheila E opening, but the time wasn't there..... I checked out that link you posted, but in the article the guy was 13 at the time and couldn't remember what date he went.... there was elements of the time's songs that Prince included in the show, but the "band" wasn't there... they weren't included on the tour because Morris and Jesse were persuing solo careers by then...here is a link about the tour and who was on the tour and the dates and the set lists of tour...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Rain_Tour

Caz PK Karen Carpenter did. Please note, timbales are not the same as kit drumming. I don't know any drum kit player who can just sit down at timbales and play them, and Latin players that do timbales or congas, are usually not anywhere near as adept at kit drums as they are at their regular instrument. They're not the same thing. :)

I saw her open for The Purple One, Easter Sunday 1985, under a full moon at the Orange Bowl in Miami! She did this set, & his Royal Badness appeared at the end & joined in with guitar!! It was AWESOME!!! They draped the entire stadium in purple bunting & hung a huge banner over the entrance sign that read "The Purple Bowl!!!"

This is by far one of the best female performances I've seen in my lifetime. They don't make bands like this anymore. I wish I would have grown up in 80s to witness all this greatness. I was fortunate to be backstage with her at an award show a few years back. Sheila is a true queen ✨️
