I was always thought next generation was determined on when the console was released, not how it ranked against the other consoles. Either way, the Wii U is next gen.

Sounds like a guy who doesn't like Nintendo. The games are excellent. The problem with Nintendo is that their online is trash in terms of lack of voice chat, messaging and party chat on the switch. Another major problem. Games that are 5 years old should not be a full retail $80.

Why would a port of a last generation game look 'next gen' just because it's on a next gen console. It was made for an old console and rushed out to this new console so they could get sales because the line up isn't very large yet. It's just logic.

I love the pikmin series and i'm 16, and it's not "little bugs jumping from tree to tree" it's an RTS thats both fun and challenging and appeals to me more than standard fps's with guns and violence

As someone that's owned at least 2 (and as many as 4) consoles every gen from 16 bit to this past gen I'll say this - I'm only going with Wii U this gen (well I may look into the Steam Box). I'ts not about the power, it's about Nintendo's 1st party games. Experiences you won't get elsewhere. If 3rd parties decide to not support it, oh well. If there's games I feel like getting that don't make it to Wii U chances are I can play it on my PC.

Why are people judging Wii U graphics on ports? Ports are supposed to look the same. It's like saying the Wii has N64 graphics because the virtual console version of Mario 64 looks like the N64 version.

Real gamers appreciate every genre... People who claim to be "hardcore gamers" are usually the fake gamers who only play cod 24/7. I'm 20 years old and I still love Mario, Pikmin, Zelda, etc. I love shooters, adventure games, rpgs, etc. A great game is great because it's fun, not because it has guns and explosions. And these "kiddy" games happen to be some of the funnest games I've ever played.
