the melody is in the heart, the speaking/singing is the fruit of the lips, a mic, songbook is not an accompaniment, but mechanical instruments are an addition.

He didn't authorize seats...God's command is sing, what you sing out of is generic, you may use a book, a piece of paper...because the command is to sing, if you play you have violated the direct command....it does not say you cannot use pbj... the "apostle" is being sarcastic he wants to pretend when the church of Christ guy ask him about his literal meat on his communion table he wants to make it figurative, but when the church of Christ guy says the harps are figurative h wants to make it literal...

Btw, I couldn't understand a word he said when he was making his argument that microphones were mechanical instruments of music (fyi mics don't make music, they help amplify sound.) and talked without the mic for a moment.

I wonder how many Levites are in the C.O.G. Cause they are the only people that could play instruments. 1 CHOR. 15:16. Only levites could serve the temple. Show a scripture after Chron. 15 where someone other than a Levite played an instrument. If you want to stick to Judaism practices, because that is not a Christian practice.

I think it is hilarious that the "apostle" says he is taking everything from the bible in truth, yet Calls himself an "apostle" What were the qualifications to be an apostle? Acts 1:21-22 “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.” Now that guy looked old with grey in his beard, but he did not look 2000 years old! Because in order to be an apostle as shown above, he had to be with Jesus from the beginning!

BF im going to assume that you are not going to answer my question. Based on the qualifications that you laid out is Paul an Apostle?
@bf16108 жыл бұрын
***** Paul was an apostle of Christ that was specifically picked out by Jesus himself - Acts 9! Scripture does not tell us if he was there from the beginning as the others were or not! So, the other apostles had to have the qualifications listed in Acts 1:21-22! So, if you don't meet those qualifications in Acts, how can you be an apostle today?
@tradewithvlad97738 жыл бұрын
BF scripture does outline that Paul was presercuting the followers of Christ and he was not at the baptism of John so based upon your understanding Paul would Not be an Apostle. If you are really interested about knowing about the apostleship i can give you the information only if you are seeking truth because your argument based upon the book of Acts will disqualify your belief of the epistles of Apostle Paul.

I disagree. The apostolic guy was reaching……he has no scripture to support his doctrine.

"David wasn't there when the Law of Moses was written" Mr. Cowert, does that mean that we don't have to follow any law that we weren't present when it was written?

I liked so called church of Christ nothing wrong with a piano I'm a member of the church of Christ but I don't mind Musical instruments because it's doesn't say it's wrong David was a musician poet and king we are under the new covenant but it doesn't say yes or no in the Bible nothing in the new testament says anything about it being wrong to use musical instruments and I'm a church of Christ member I know there's going to be somebody to challenge me bring it

Show me a scripture that authorize musical instruments in new testament. That's like saying show me in bible where taking heroin or cocaine is wrong. You cant prove to me the bible says not to do heroin or cocaine, so does that make it right? If you see "don't do this ...." "Don't do that", Then it would take a lifetime to read specifically what not to do. We are prescribed what to do, and we dont have authority to change God's word
@dannykurretto41524 жыл бұрын
@Kathryn Henry we live under the new covenant, the law of Christ(Galations 6:2) and in Galations 5:3, Paul makes the perfectly clear notion that if you make part of the old law your religion that you are obligated to keep the WHOLE LAW. That means, following YOUR line of thinking, you are absolutely obligated to keep animal sacrifices, burning incense, and so on. Are you willing to do that? If not then just stick to what we are commanded to do under the law of Christ, which is to sing together (greek grammer proves this point) Now back to Colossians 3:17, name is synonymous with authority (acts 4:7 proves the point) so do you have authorization under the law of Christ to add to God's approved worship pattern? Remember leviticus 10:1-3? Nadab and Abihu adjusted God's instruction by doing something OTHER THAN what God told them, they added to it! Proverbs 30:6-" don't add to His words lest He reprove you and you be found a liar." Such a strong statement that is utterly disregarded by people who claim to be God's followers. Answer this question please- since the bible does not explicitly condemn crack or heroin, does that make it ok to do?

@Kathryn Henry we are obligated by God to stand up for the truth, stand up against false doctrine. I am sorry if I offended you personally. I am only after the doctrinal side of things.
@dannykurretto41524 жыл бұрын
@Kathryn Henry with logical reasoning, we have ability to gain knowledge from explicit and implicit teachings in the bible. I get your point about the lack of mentioning, the Holy Spirit inspired words can convey instructions by positive commands only in some parts and at other times in the negative commands. Positive commands just say what to do (without add/subtract) and of course negative commands being "thou shalt not do.....such and such". You can imply what is NOT said by what IS said. We humans do this all the time in everyday life. We must do it with the scripture when we have examples/evidence.
@dannykurretto41524 жыл бұрын
@Kathryn Henry 2 chron 29:25-26 the text shows that instruments were commanded by the Lord. So they didn't have an option to use or not to use. They would in fact sin if they did not use instruments. Now they were under their covenant and we are under ours, they had a commandment to use them, we do not have a commandment. Fearing Almighty God and not adding or taking away from His word is what everything in our probation life is all about. I hold it as sinning under the new covenant, with various examples from old testament and even in the new(ananias and his wife lied and died in book of acts) that shows followers of God making such small adjustments to His word and being struck dead for doing so. We must fear God on all accounts. Rightly dividing His word, being sure to separate what we must do now as opposed to what the mosaic law held
