Benzem is the french player with most goals in history most assists in history and most trophies in history and add that with 5 ucls ballondor being the greatest ever striker in ucl being realamdrids 2nd all time top scorer and all time top assister. To add to all of that hes an absolutely beautiful footballer to watch technically as good as you can be and graceful. Not a tapin merchant. Hes the best since 2000 for sure.

Mbappe is from France. Paris is his City. If he can win PSG their first ever UCL, he will win the Ballon d’Or off the back of that. That would be a bigger acheivement than winning the UCL with Real Madrid. Neymar left Barcelona for the same reason, to win PSG their first ever UCL and as a result, win the Ballon d’Or. Unfortunately, the PSG project seems to keep failing so maybe he is giving up now and willing to just got to a Real Madrid now at 25 years old but at least he can say he tried with PSG. Tbf it's top 10 French players of the 21st Century, not top 10 players for the French National team. Giroud hasn't been as consistently good or alternatively hit the same peaks as anyone else on this list imo. Objectively, there's no argument you can make for him being a better player than Zidane, Henry, Benzema, Mbappe, Vieira, Ribery, Kante, Griezman or Makelele. You could at most argue he could get in over Varane. But even then it's difficult to argue against Varane when he broke into Madrid's defence as a kid, 3 peated the UCL, was also part of all the same successful France teams. You can make the argument because Varane's younger so Giroud has achieved more so far and Giroud never had the opportunity to 3 peat a UCL because he never played in a Madrid team full of superstars. But on the other hand I'd argue no team either Giroud up top is capable of 3 peating the UCL. Varane played in a better team with better players so he has shown he can hold his own. I'm not sure Giroud can be prolific enough/consistent enough at club level to reach those heights. He was brilliant at Montpellier, not really special at Arsenal, better at Chelsea and AC Milan again as he was more experienced. Like I said, maybe he gets that 10th spot over Varane. But that's the absolute maximum. It's like how I wouldn't argue Lukaku is better than Hazard, De Bruyne, Kompany, Coutois or even the likes of Mousa Dembele just because he's Belgium's all time top scorer. Giroud definitely deserved to be in that honourable mentions list. But top 10 idk.

Fun premise, without putting almost any thought into it, these are the 10 names I came up with pretty quickly: henry, zidane, kante, mbappe, benzema, vieira, ribery, griezmann, anelka, thuram. I am sure I am forgetting someone. Makelele and Trezeguet were also considered before I was satisfied and started ordering. I would rate Zidane ahead of Henry all time, but for the time after 2000 Henry takes it.

​@@johanfredriksvendsen8482Makele would be nailed on in that top 10 for me. Incredibly consistent player, one of the best DMs ever. His peak (Madrid and Chelsea) falls within the 2000s. And like Kante, the impact he had on the teams he played in was massive and instantaneous. But yeah that last spot is a bit of a toss-up. You got the likes of Thuram, Desailly and Anelka who's absolute peaks fall in the 90s. You've got players like Evra who probably weren't quite as good but played completely in the 2000s. Then you got the likes of Giroud and Lloris who were massive players for France and had great spells at club level but weren't as consistently amazing throughout their careers as some of the other players mentioned. Trezeguet's one I never really got to watch properly but sounds like his peak was right around the turn of the century so maybe he's the one. Varane is still in the middle of his career but has accomplished a lot already. He's got a decent shout. Very hard to pick that 10th man but Makelele is nailed on in my top 9 tbh.

I know that Sharkey asked this question, but I have to be as honest as possible with my answer. Robben and Ribery are a much better duo than Salah and Mane overall, imo. Just accounting for what they have done as a duo, Robben and Ribery won 8 league titles together, completed the treble in 2012-2013, won a Champions League in 2012 (same year as the treble), Robben had a 75% win rate for his games, and Ribery had a 73% win rate for his games. Ribery came in 3rd place for the Balon d'Or (behind CR7 and Messi) in 2013. But that's just my opinion. Not gonna hate on Salah and Mane. An incredible duo👏

Didn’t Faysal say Madrid lost the 14/15 Semi Final to Juve SOLELY because Modric didn’t play ? Now it’s cause Benzema didn’t play ? 😂 Also, Benzema only had two seasons with 20+ goals in LA LIGA alone when he had Ronaldo with him, he was never even a top 5 best/influential player while Ronaldo was there and Madrid fans wanted him gone. He was impressive at Lyon no doubt but Benzema’s career should be judged on Madrid after Ronaldo. That’s when he was at HIS best and he was great ofc, 21/22 he delivered an iconic season WITH Vini, Benz & Vini were like Shaq & Kobe or Lebron & Kyrie. Even as a Liverpool fan, I look back at the season and the duo was so good and great to watch. But he’s just not the greatest french player EVER Fayz.
