I'm the third speaker for a debate tomorrow, and we find out the topic one hour before the debate. this means that we literally have 1 hour to come up with our 4-5 minute speech and I'm so nervous about it. I'm mostly scared about having to quickly write refutes while the opposing team is talking and I'm so stressed about it 😰

well,tomorrow I have a English debate competition,but we only have 20 minutes to prepare the speech, & the topic was told at that time!

Wow, I too have a dabate tomorrow and I'm the third speaker as well, but we were made known of the topic at least 2 weeks ago. Helps a lot in doing research and putting up valid and strong arguments. Nevertheless, my advice would be that you should maintain vigil during the debate. Focus on what they are arguing and if you think some point is wrong or misleading, dicuss it with your team and include it in your rebuttle! I know it's late, but could help you or someone else some other time! Good Luck!!

Oh what the flip, I just realized something, my debate thing will be about the Alaska purchase and wether it should be bought or not.. but in first person pov. How the fridge are we supposed to ask for sources when the internet didn’t even exist back then? T - T “oh yeah, I just know a lot about this state that I’ve never visited before because I’m a genius-“ that don’t sound right. It’s 11 pm, I was procrastinating all weekend and just started doing research for this rebuttal stuff. I’m doomed.
