It’s because all of the people that were at Atlantic records who supported her and put the full force of Atlantic behind her in terms of promotion and radio all left when Atlantic changed hands in 1990 right before the record came out and all of the new people that were in charge of the label didn’t like her and wanted things to go in more of a darker more adult Direction. That’s why the album after this “Different Time” Wasn’t released and instead she was sent back into the studio with Rogers and Sturken to “create urban hits” as the label put it… And of course the result was “body mind soul” which was released in 1992

The fact that she wanted to break out of the squeaky clean girl image but Madonna was crossing the line.... 😂🤣Although I liked Madonna back then, I'm glad Deborah Gibson and Tiffany didn't cross those boundaries. They keep their images classy. Madonna pushed boundaries and constantly gave the gossip tabloids something to talk about. But, it looked good and it definitely worked for her.

Gibson said it best!!!! Those critics DID NOT listen to the album! They just figured she was a goody goody who did not put a lot of hard work into her music...it is a shame because this album could have gone so much bigger had critics LISTENED to it and Atlantic helped her!!

Holy crap, she's realy singing! Hey Briteney, Debbie is realy singing! Hey, Christina and all you other "singers" that say you can perform and that you sing at the same time... bull crap. Debbie is doing that here and you can here it. Now that was a genuine and perfect performance. The only young performer I can think of these days that actualy sings and not lip sync is Tayler Swift.

I have a lot of respect for Debbie,she was real,talented,knew how to write her own music,and was herself and she did not let her celebrity go to her head.She was a real class act.Too bad in 2013,you have the Miley Cyrus's of the world who feels she has to be slutty just to sell records...Debbie as in her 40's is still a classy lady!

Class is getting hard to come by today..Today's generation does not have a clue in what class is.Debbie had lots of it,and she could sing her butt off and she never downed other artists.These so called artists of today is disgusting,Nicki Minaj,Miley Cyrus are god awful degrading no class singers.They are not artists they are a show for the media to talk about.Music in my opinion is getting worse and worse that is why I listen to 70,80's music because Debbie Gibson,and others back in the day put in 100% in their work.

Jason Hayward its because Debbie was raised normal. Despite having top 5 hits she still did chores had Sunday dinners after church (She's Catholic) hung out with friends (her childhood friends are still her friends) and gradded High school (Sanford L. Calhoun, class of 1988) like a normal girl. Her family kept (and keeps) her grounded

That is so true.But lets get real too on today's music..It has gotten watered down,it is no longer taking the time to make the music good,its putting it out as quickly to make a hit,no rhythm,just annoying sounds

your comment is seven years old so you probably won’t even see this but don’t you fucking dare ever call a woman a slut just because her image is sexual. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of meeting and working with Miley before during my time in Nashville and she’s one of the most kind hearted hard-working women you will ever fucking meet. Her image is raw and sexual and she doesn’t have any fucks to give for anyone else’s opinion. She’s a fucking boss and she’s an amazing singer songwriter

Where you writing albums when you were 16? I think she was writing what she felt and what appealed to 14 year olds, which is why it seems lame now that we are adults. But, if you made a number one album when you were 16 let me know. I wouuld love to hear it.

I have always really liked Arsenio Hall, and have always been one of his defenders... but he really seemed to "have it in" for Debbie in this interview... trying to make her seem silly and belittling her somewhat with his line of questioning... I can just feel that vibe with him here. He isn't open, jovial and enthusiastic, as he is with so many of his guests. There's something brewing underneath the surface with Arsenio here.....
@beckymerchant4678
@beckymerchant4678 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, I think he was advocating for Debbie in a subtle way. He was giving her a way to express her feelings towards the critics and the record label executives who thought she should be a "goody goody two shoes." He wanted her to be herself and show that. He teased her for her "sexy" pic. Much the same way a big brother would tease his sister. It was cute. He was good here. But he also wanted to put emphasis on the fact she had grown up. Arsenio was not always jovial and cutting up in interviews on the show. He had moments when he was dead serious and even had some stuff to say in place of the nightly monologues. I watched the show religiously. He never belittled Debbie or any other woman.
