Deborah Ann "Debbie" Gibson (born August 31, 1970), is an American singer-songwriter who was a teen pop icon. She was popular in the late 1980s and the early 1990s. At the age of seventeen, Gibson was the youngest person to write, produce, and perform a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit single (in the USA) with her song "Foolish Beat," a title that is now shared with rapper Soulja Boy.
She appeared repeatedly on the covers of teen magazines (in the USA) such as Tiger Beat. She has gone on to starring roles on Broadway and touring musicals, as well as independent film and television work. She continues to record, and reached the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart as high as #24 during 2006 in a duet with Jordan Knight titled "Say Goodbye."

Oh my, same thoughts. The only difference is, I was a kid back in the 80's. And just a couple months back, I got to re-discover her and not just fell in love again with the songs I grew up with, but also discovered songs that I haven't heard before. At the same time, I got to get to know her not just an artist, but also as a person. Like you said, Debbie is really special.

She's getting the pop sound back into her voice & away from that broadway vibrato I don't care so much for. But even though that's how she started out, her pop sound is what I remember & grew up with. :-P Love her ALWAYS! :-)

@ireland206 well her mom and dad divorced around the AIP era and he lives in Florida remarried. Deborah talks to her dad (not sure how often though) but her mom is her manager and of course she is going to have to speak to her and her sisters were always a part of her music in the earlier years. She doesn't see them as much due to them living on east coast and her on west.
