@@abdallahtarek3602 Why were your trying to install a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit laptop? It will perform worse if you have 4 or more gigabytes of RAM. The latest peppermint OS is lighter than the prior ones, but have more of a learning curve now that they are directly based on Debian 11 Bullseye and not Ubuntu-based as prior versions were. In any event, the CPU is what dictates whether a Linux distro will work or not. You would need to look up the specifications of your CPU and see if it mentions "PAE", but I think in your case it sounds like it does not feature PAE. Look up the term "Physical Address Extension" in wikipeda and go to the section on Linux which explains a lot. Basically it looks like you'll need a Debian based distro like the new Peppermint OS if you want to run a 32-bit Linux for your particular laptop cpu, but remember it should still be better to run a 64-bit distro if hardware allows.

I have tried debian 11 for 2 weeks now, Ive had enough, too many bugs.....no sound through hdmi, no wakeup after suspend, and turning off moniter locks the system upon turning moniter back on. . ubuntu 20.04 and linux mint are far better. 5

You discribe exaxtly what I had on Mint. I tried Gnome (my favotire desktop) on Mint but it was not stable. Since I have migrate to Debian 11, no problem, never. But I must say I have a Desktop PC (not a portable) and no specific graphic card / sound card. It's a Dell 3080.

I've been running it since the day it came out. Except for updated versions of kdenlive and floblade, for example, I don't see anything obvious as an improvement over Debian 10, except that Gnome and Gnome Classic run properly on an old Lenovo A57 32 bit machine, which tended to be unstable for the applications' window with Debian 10. For my primary PC, and the old PC, I use the Gnome 2/Mate desktop, because it is more traditional and easier to use :-) My only major gripe is the insistence by Debian to only provide Firefox 78.x.x ESR, as the Firefox option, when Firefox is now at version 91.0.2. Come on, Debian :-) Not a problem, since I can download the *.bz2, and run it independently of the apt :-)

Well in my case with Debian 10, Gnome was slow, KDE is snappier thus I opt for KDE although I'm a fan of Gnome. Your tweaked Xfce looks way better than stock setting.

Installed Debian 11 only with standard tools, then log as root and run "apt install kde-plasma-desktop plasma-nm" and there you go... basic and fast Plasma

I use Plazma as DE in Debian 11 for a year now, and it works PERFECT, snappy, light, no problems. While Debian 10 with plasma was not good enough to use it. I did install Plasma base only though.

Kde from some version improved and became comparable to xfce for resource usage. 5.20 includes these changes, but 5.14 did not have them, I used both and could not feel much diff, other than the extra improvements in 5.20.

I tried To update my Debin 10 KDE to Debian 11 KDE, but went Back to Debian 10 KDE It's important to get a new HD and make a image backup before trying to update to Debian 11. So you can go back. On Debian 11 KDE everything works, but the menu and status bar is flickering, and sometimes it's hanging on login, I also had trouble running applications in Wine I tried for two days to fix it. So Went Back to Debina 10 KDE Stable home sweet home :-)
