I never had anyone to teach me how to rope when I started so I watched your videos over and over and you were the inspiration and still are. Thank you

My father worked as a cowboy after WWII; he could do several “fancy” shots. He didn’t teach his kids anything “cowboy”... I’ve since learned that everything he made look easy is damn hard. Nice video

From Maryland. Grew up in California. Didn't learn about bridle horses, Dorrence brothers and Ray Hunt until I'd been away for several years. Turns out the Dorrance Ranch was only about an hour from where I lived. Big missed opportunity but never too late to learn. Thank you for all your videos. Fun and educational.

Mr.Pat and Ms.Deb,we are from Agra,Oklahoma a small town about 12 miles north of chandler ok. We are trying to preserve a line of curly horses. I have always been fascinated by the vaqueros mindset of it takes as long as it takes. Making a bridle horse is the ultimate because it builds upon that foundation without leaving holes. I enjoy your videos and explanations of why you do things to build to the next step. You're an artist and a good horseman. Thank you for making your videos.

Thank you for the video Mr. and Mrs. Puckett! I am going to start at square one with what you demonstrated. Unfortunately, I built most of my roping foundation on team roping. I have a lot of bad habits to break, but on the other hand I wouldn't know about the Californios style if it weren't for team roping. I am back from school now and I am excited to work on my roping this summer! Baltimore Maryland sends it's appreciation.

Hi. This is Shawn. Just to be clear, I'm not the one saying that the poly is comparable to the riata. I don't know much, and I've never been lucky enough to hold one or throw a loop with one, but I know enough to never imply that a poly rope or any other kind of synthetic rope has the same characteristics as a riata. It's sacred. This was a statement made, in a catalog about a poly rope, by someone who sells ranch ropes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You are one, of a small group of people, that I respect and look to for true and experienced advice.

@@PatnDebPuckett Hi! Thank you so much. I didn't take it as a criticism. I just didn't want the whole world thinking I was making a comparison about something I don't have any experience with. Your explanation of why you now dislike the poly ropes has saved me the money that I would have wasted buying one. So, thanks again!!

Appreciate the tips. Takes a lot longer if you have to figure out all this out on your own. Not enough videos teaching real roping. I'm from Waterton Park area in Alberta. Been using this style of roping for a few years. I imagine it would be a lot easier with a riata. Keep the videos coming. 👍👍 Thanks. Also wondering if you've ever tried waxed cotton ropes.
