@@wfl19 how about we have a sitcom that actually shows the gender stereotypes reversed? Huh? How about we have a sitcom that doesn't always depict the husband as the screw up, how about we have husbands that are more than goofy loving, but smart hard earning compassionate? These husbands and marriages like these exist too. Why do we always have to depict marriages where the woman is the victim and the husband the screw up?!

I actually think this is a sweet moment between them here. Debra worries about their marriage if her parents' seemingly perfect marriage didn't works out showing it does means lot to her even if she and Ray sometimes bickers. On Ray's end, he is actually very gentle and reasonable with her even if he is giving her some hard facts that she may not want to hear. It is so sweet how in the end of the episode, Debra wanted him to hold her in bed to feel better and he does that for her.

Maybe he is laughing at relief like he thought it was something real serious. Like he said here everybody pretty much saw this coming for some time so it wasn't really a surprise. Also, we all have that stupid moment where we respond to a situation the wrong way. Plus, what would you prefers if you were in that situation? Would you want someone to say oh my god this is horrible. Your life is going to end forever and your mother is a horrible human being? Or would you want your partner to tries to have you takes a small step back, look at the situation in a more reasonable way and tries to make you feel better by laughing a bit?
@smmds
@smmds 2 ай бұрын
@@user-ie8om9rr2g well any normal human being with some emotional intelligence would give a hug or ask if there's something they could do to help or just plain give a listening ear. Why should the alternative to being a gigantic asshole by laughing continuously be another idiotic response of insulting the parents, calling the mum horrible, life would end or whatever weird things you said? That doesn't make any sense at all.

As funny as this was Ray gave a very reasonable reason why Debra’s parents are divorcing. Look, marriage isn’t easy and there are many different types in every household. However, as crazy, weird, and annoying as Ray and Robert’s parents were, they never kept their problems inside. If there was something that was bothering, considering, or troublesome to them, they’d say it. Guess you could say it’s an openly LOUD marriage but somehow it works. Debra’s parents may have started out may lower volume as Marie’s and Frank’s but then as they grew they bottled it up thinking it was a silly reason to fight over. But Marie said something wise in an episode: “There’s gonna be fighting. There’s gonna be yelling. And you act like there’s something wrong with that. You love them, you hate them. Don’t avoid hate, hate is real.” You’re gonna feel all types of emotions in a marriage even hate. But as long as you talk about it, speak about it, and come to an even middle you’ll plow right through it and enjoy and last through.~

Funny the end of the episode or something ray did like fortell how frank and marie stayed so long and it was like he said, they kept everything in the open oh wait it was a different episode i think when pat smoked. That was it because they all started fighting cept them, but they both said everything is out in the open that they needed no like secret stress releavers to like tolerate the other. Like how frank says marie to be quiet really, yes not nice but marie knows too she can be difficult. And vise versa as well.

Debra emasculates her husband, complains about her in-laws cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children, sits at home with no income and has the audacity to have a complain fest everyday. If I were Ray I’d run away and find a real women who would appreciate having the love and support of her in-laws instead of inserting her ego in every situation because she has self-esteem issues, and appreciates a man that provides with a job that’s honorable. You people are insane and oafish.

Debra is a psycho wife. Ray while a little childish and egotistical, is a family earner, loves his wife, treats everyone kindly, is a good father. Debra is a good mother but a terrible wife who complains about everything when her husband provided her with 3 children, a house, and a great future with early retirement once the kids leave. Basically, a dream life. She is a perfect representation of toxic women/wives, never happy, always complaining.

@@NicoleCzarnecki Actually, believes it or not but it is strongly implies that Ray and Debra's actual everyday relationship is more healthy and normal than what we're seeing. People gets so wrapped up in the fights that they forget that Ray and Debra have shown plenty of times to love each other. Ray is nowhere near critical to Debra as Marie is about her roles as housekeeper/mother (outside of cooking), takes the time to comes up all of these creative and unusual nicknames for her and occasionally had made her laugh. In return Debra puts up her in laws' antics for the sake for Ray and is often his confidant. She is also supportive of his job. She just wishes he would help her out a bit more without her having to nag him to do it. Both are also shown to be caring parents to their kids in their own way. We're likely only seeing their bad days since it more interesting and funny.
