I’m loving the videos that dive deeper into the pros lives. The training videos, the ones in Austria, and now this. I don’t think this content can be found anywhere else. Thanks deb

Thanks Deb, Nice to hear both Athletes and Ryan's insights. Knowing a portion of Ryan's background in racing and family's dedication to coaching athletes adds some fun for a Minnesota guy. Thanks again.

thanks , that is some great video! its a great insight to the coach and racer interaction. ive always been a huge fan of the dynamic quickness of slalom racing, the close gates, the quick rotation, carve, acceleration, the pole swing and the cross block. good luck to jett and ben on the world cup this season.

I don't know a thing about racing but "doing it wrong uses a lot more energy than doing it right" will stick with me this season! I heard that and all I could think is "yeah"!

One more thing. That coach is more motivational than tactical. I’m guessing that’s what’s needed at that level. The athletes know what to do. The coach just needs to get them to tap into their potential. So cool to see

Terrific insight. I love Ryan discussing the core and how it doesn't move until it needs to. Now - how to translate to my daughter's ski racing? Thanks

See, now, when I’m skiing slalom, it feels like I’m doing it exactly like these guys. But when I see my video, yeah it’s not even the same sport. 😂 Cool to see such awesome athletes on the hill I’ve spent so much time schralping away!

Probably just cause they're on video or something. Might not be as used to it but my skiing team is pretty social.

@@mep7 taking the line down the hill as much as possible as opposed to more across the hill. Taking it deep then requires accomplishing a tight turn radius, an explosion of a turn, on and off the edges quickly.

So much talking and so few informations for the athletes. I hope that is what these athletes need. Looking forward to see more then 1 US Athlete in SL Worldcups.

We have filled 4 spots for the last two seasons, young guys, good. Including last years word junior champion and three guys ready to make a move. What extra informations do you think they need to hear?
@bernhardgandler275

@@ryanwilson7867 I owe you an answer, otherwise i am just a youtube troll. At the same time by answering i am still a youtube troll writing to the actual coach of these athletes. 🤣 I was mostly refering to seeing them finish or qualify for the 2nd run. TBH i wasn´t even aware you had 4 starters since Luke Winters was the only one that caught my attention. I am always cheering for the underdogs because it is very important for our global sport to have more then 4-5 Nations on the podium. As for the informations for the athletes, obviously you know your guys better then me and know what they need to hear. Also judging from one youtube video nobody can tell what you actually work on. From my outside perspective i see that Jett Seymour and Luke Winters ski a very similar style. Their short pressure points are definitely world class and on a comparable level with the absolute world elite. (exceptions might be Schwarz and Foss-Solevaag) Their Fishhook-turns are great and by bending the tail of their skis at the end of the turn they shorten the radius significantly. At the same time very frequently they fail to get back into a middle position before the start of a new turn. To less pressure at the tips of the skis at the start of the turn might be one reason for the high percentage of DNFs. Also it makes them block the gate with the hand in a very low position and sometimes with their shin first. This results in more clearing-resistance by the gate. Ben Ritchie on the other hand is a completely different skier with more stable and clean basic technique. I think he could benefit from a slightly wider stance at times. Giving him easier access to the full power of both legs and preventing "blocking" the movement of one leg by his other leg. Calming down his arm movements and keeping his back straight might give him this extra "calmness" to push for higher angulation with his hips and prevent upper body rotations. PS: Don´t take youtube trolls to serious! 😁

Hi Bernhard, thanks for your lengthy answer. I saw your original post and I ignored it. but look at you, you got a response from the Man, Ryan Wilson. There are few coaches on the planet that have the instinct and coaching skill as Ryan. You took the time to send Ryan a lengthy response. I respect that. I do believe you are miss guided in giving any feedback about these athletes directly to Ryan. Ryan is the coach, knows everything about the skiing of these athlete intimately, the athletes issues, quirks, intentions, motivations, problems. Everything adds up. This is how I will respect Ryan right here. Ryan, stay the course, Keep sweating blood for those boys, I respect you and your style beyond the words I can express, those boys would not be the ski racers they are without you. You know that, you have groomed them, grown up with them. Ryan, thanks for being a coach. Thanks for your time in letting me make this video. Thanks for being so darn COOL. Now get back to coaching and motivating those guys. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Happy Thanksgiving. And take good care Bernhard, have an awesome ski season.

@@DebArmstrongSkiStrong Thank you for taking the time and creating this content. Footage that shows feedback and different coaching styles is rare. I don´t know you or Ryan but i think we would have some great conversations over a beer. I am a professional coach and have coached athletes on this level (top 100 wcsl) before, otherwise i would not even dare to comment here. Have a great start into the season!
