In today's video, I take you on a tour of the most renowned Charolais bull sale in the U.S.A. located right here in Montana. The DeBruyckers are our neighbors in North Central Montana and they have worked really hard over the last 60 years to perfect their Charolais herd and it shows because they
have very loyal buyers. These are some of the most beautiful and nice bulls I have ever met. There are almost 700 bulls at this annual sale. You will see how they get washed and ready for the sale. I talk to Mr. Kim Summers a big rancher from Nevada who loves this line of Charolais bulls. I also talk to Mr. Loyd Sherburn and his daughter Ms. Sherburn who have a big family cattle ranching operation from the South West. The Sherburn's teach me what to look for in prospective bulls for their herd. There are dozens of serious Charolais buyers at the sale and these bulls command big prices because they are of exceptional quality. I have learned so much about how to choose a good bull. These buyers do their research and I am grateful they took the time to share their great knowledge with me. My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 16-year-old 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Kate this was really neat to see! It really amazed me how calm they were, but I was still lik "No Kate don' t pet the bull!" Great Video Kate. Honestly they all look the same to me but you did a great job in providing a course on what the ranchers are looking for and why. I worked in a AG town of 8500 and between my co-workers who farmed part time quoting John Deere and Case tractor and combine numbers for the last 50 years and talking about cattle it got mind numbing not knowing what they were talking about. Now I understand the cattle part better. Keep up the great work.

Beautiful Bulls. My family raises Pinzgauer Hereford Cross or purebread Pinzgauers in Southern Ontario Canada. Pinzgauers have been refered to as the tenderness breed. They are large frame animals who can put on weight very fast. They are not well known in North America.

We are very happy that our French breeders have been able to make the export success of this breed from the center of France. It has a small disadvantage: it needs males that do not make big calves (''culards'') to young heifers. The meat is not marbled like the Hereford, the French appreciate in fast cooking (fondue).

Great video Kate, there was a lot of good information about picking out and buying bulls. One thing that i am looking forward too is an update on the winter wheat and how much it has grown seeing how it is starting to warm up. When I was younger always afraid of going to an auction because if you moved or even nodded your head you were bidding . One auction I went to one of the men pointing out the bids or were wanting your bid was walking around looking & he came up behind me and bod for me ,, & I was just standing back in the crowd watching .. All the machinery wasn't worth buying .. I really enjoy watching your videos I always learn from you & you're young enough you could be my granddaughter , but my daughter never married . . Sending prayers and positive thoughts May you have a wonderful harvest . I'm looking forward to see you operating your combine .. Do you ever use a grain cart to take the grain to your trucks ? i grew up on a farm 25 years ago in northern Ontario Canada We had a small farm family of ^ boys and 4 girls I always say we had a small farm family but we are not Mennonite or catholic. The Nabours used to call our farm old MacDonald's farm we had around 35 to 40 Holstine dairy cows 25 beef cows 5 sow farrow to finish 50 laying hens for eggs 50 to 100 white rock meet birds (chickens) at various times we had ducks, geese, sheep goats, and horses and rabbits I always say we ate like Kings and worked like peasants

Its pretty interesting what goes on in farming and ranching. I literally thought they just put a bunch of cows and bulls out there , they do what they do and then you have extra running around soon.

Great video. I loved my time working cattle back in the 1970’s,and cattle genetics and breeding were my favorite subjects at Oklahoma State University. We used to go to a bull ranch up in Kansas to pick out breeding bulls, leasing back then,or buying semen for inseminating purebred Angus.
