We've conquered it with Daphne!

Overnight footage and my day. My finger has swelled up again and is so painful! But a trip to the doctors, and I'm hopefully going to be sorted again! Jimmy turned up first as usual!

I'm just a normal everyday lady who feeds friendly wild foxes and squirrels that come to my garden. Under no circumstances am I trying to tame them as pets or allow them into my home. I am also NOT a fox rescue service. They turn up of their own free will. Being urban, food isn't always easy to find, as not many areas for them to hunt, so I like to try and help them a little if I can. They are not totally reliant on me and haven't lost the ability to hunt for themselves. I will give them medication when needed for mange, infections, and pain, but that is under the close eye of the fox experts 🦊
ChipChip, Cookie, Jimmy, Pip, Daphne, Ringo, and Howie are the seven regulars that arrive most evenings. Basil hasnt been seen since the end of November, just as mating season started 😪 But I live in the hope that he'll return one day 🤞
Biscuit was the first fox to befriend me back in 2021. Unfortunately she passed away Sept 1st 2023 and she is sadly missed by everyone who got to know her 😢❤️ I'd like to thank The Fox Angels Foundation and Second Chance Fox Rescue for all the help, support and advise with trying to help Biscuit. And the continued support they still give me. I can't thank you guys enough! 🦊🥰
Kenny and Norman, my two cats can be seen from time to time, plus there's Dave, the streetlight 🤣 Random cats, and not to forget the squirrels! ❤️ Plus, there's the badger! and sometimes a hedgehog!

I also hate cold. We're approaching winter, which can be rather chilly here. We've got the four seasons and I definitely love spring. I hope your finger gets better; antibiotics should be taken for one to two whole weeks. Painkillers, on the other hand, mustn't be taken beyond three days unless the doctor says otherwise. Good luck! And the fact you didn’t want your bowls or trays to keep going missing 😂 Goodness I hope these antibiotics do the trick, just try to bear with them, hospital is the last place we want to try not to go these days, I went only 2 weeks ago at Derriford and waited 6 1/2 hours to see a doctor, they are rushed off their feet! I noticed that when Daphne was eating from the tray she seemed to keep looking up at your home. I think this confirms my suspicion that she was taking the bowls because she (erroneously) felt unsafe but now feels more safe since she can eat while watching your door and windows. Congratulations!

Debs, try soaking your finger in as hot as you can stand it salt water for a bit. Then if you have some or can get hold of some germolene or savlon stick abit on a plaster then stick the plaster around your finger, do that for a few days it may help.

Morning den mum. Oh well done Daphne that's it you got it. Good girl. With one of the others right there showing how it's done and it's ok hopefully it will give hee that bit more confidence and enable her to eat from the tray when they aren't there. You need to drain your finger den mum. Put a bandage on to keep it clean and drain the much out. And more antibiotics. Oh bugger let's hope they don't make you feel as bad this time. I still say you should punch a hole in it bandage it up and let it drain, while taking your tablets. Can be any worse. If nothing else the rain will fill up all the watering holes for the animals on the moors. Rain at night and nice during the day. But as for your tray drill some small hole in it to drain the water and you wont end up with soup lol. Monty landed on his spikes he didn't get hurt. Just more of a shock or surprise for him. He was really upset he wouldn't of come back. Xx

So I put a pop up screen tent canopy up to protect a project I was working on when we had a few days of rain and surprisingly the foxes went into it and were checking it out so I put their food in it and sure enough they went in and ate. Although one had a mishap and jumped into the screened wall and bounced off😂. But something like that might help keep the rain off you while you feed the babies .

Hello Everyone! Something must have triggered a fear of trays for dear Daphne. The other day I was playing with my sweet calico fur-baby and the stick hit her across the mouth as I was trying to untangle it from the fabric tunnel roll. Now she won't play with me when I use that stick. They remember unpleasantness. I felt awful!!!☹ But, I'm slowly reintroducing it and I'm sure she'll trust it again! 😍

Have you tried soaking your finger in, as hot as you can stand, salt water. Sometimes, that draws the infection out and might, at least, relieve the pain a little.

Um I think your awesome but I think I might have a theory of why Daphne is stealing bowls cuz she's scared of them being soo close to the wall. Cuz she could be eating and something hostile strikes her with no time to react as she's eating. Moving them away from the wall improves her confidence level. Just a theory. Foxes are very beautiful and strange. Dog hardware running on cat software with the abilities of both. Glad you finger is doing better. Sorry don't think precious desired to hurt you.

I'd be going in for the IV anti B now..... This happened to me (not fox tho) in june 2011. Had to make the journey to outpatient clinic in snow for IV AB around dodgy buildings and more earthquakes, because oral AB failed. Lost a lot of layers of skin which had to be cut away. Digits havent got enough room for swelling Debs. Give yourself a break and dont try to be tough. I'd be going in for the IV now. That big girl pants stuff is bullshit.

Hi debs ring 111 don't mess about with it try and see a doctor today you have to be careful of sepsis. Explained to 111 and ask to see Dr . Tell them inflammation started again. Don't leave it debs. Love ange xx
