My husband and I built our pole barn style shop, 40x60 and we saved over 20K. It's still a work in progress inside, but the floor, insulation (walls and ceiling), electrical, overhead door, two entry doors, windows, metal siding and roof and we're now working on the indoor sheeting. It's a buy as we have the funds and work as we have the spare time. We did pay friends (who do cement work) to help us with that, otherwise it was just us and it is gratifying at ages 58 and 56 yrs. old. Congrats to you both, it looks wonderful!

Sorry to hear about Frankie! He is a wonderful companion and I know he is loved much and will be greatly missed when his time comes. I have always been told if you love you will experience grief at times. Those of us who have fur babies and have treated them well know that we have given them the best we possibly could and they in return have given so much to us, but it still hurts! My best to you and Lori on your project. It has been real cold here so stay bundled up by that nice wood fire and stay well. We used to have wood heat on our farm and I can say there is nothing warmer or cozier then that heat. As we get older we just need to stay warmer. My best and God bless.🐺🐺🐺👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏

Well Boss, another great video. Really love your new garage. You are right, with what you said in the video. That building would be the perfect size for a cabin/house. You look around at all the newer houses being built. Most of them are way too big of place. Takes so much more to heat those big homes and maintain. But I guess most folks think bigger is better. I tend to think functional is better. Seeing your new building I can see just how I could make that functional for me and my family. You and lorry definitely do great looking work . Great looking building and very self satisfying ! Hey not bad on cost either. My 16x20 cost right at 12 grand weathered in but I had help of a builder friend so it cost me 4 grand for him but I felt it was well worth it. I used your idea on the carboy shower and did the grey water septic out the side of the building and of course under the frost line. Always wanted to have property in northern Wisconsin and my dream finally came true. Can't really be any happier through this whole project. I've learned a lot and just proves if you really want something you will work as hard as you have to to get it. Congrats on the build hope all is well!

WoW! $9,446.28 for a 24'x28' versus a 24'x24' for $38-42k. I understand completely that businesses are in it for profits but come on! Greed is keeping the common person from having anything. Great job as usual. I would have liked to have built my own home but I don't have the skills to do the complete job so I hired a contractor. I did draw the blue prints for the house and my wife and I love it. When I see what the prices are for someone to just build a garage, I can't believe how much it cost. I see a fellow on KZbin who does that sort of thing and his garages run about $30,000 or more for a smaller garage than you are building. You were right when you said "add in the cost of someone else's labor and the price jumps way up". At one time back in the 70's I had a dream of building my own home and bought 10 acres of land in Crossville, TN. Then my job moved to Florida and I bought another 10 acres there. Before I could build there my job moved me to Mississippi. I finally gave up on building my own home and settled for a 12' X 12' work shop in the back yard. I did ALL the work myself and it turned out well. The part that got me nervous was building and shingling the roof. Keep up the good work and don't forget to thank Lori every day for being such a good trooper.

I love this building and it would be perfect for me a place on my small lake lot I have here in Louisiana! It is what I have been thinking about doing for years but my daughters keep talking me out of it and now I have just turned 66 and would need to hire someone to help me with the heavier work. Please keep us updated. And the two of you need to be careful and not overdo it this winter!
