Debt Restructuring: Strategies, Impacts, and Future Outlook. Resident Representative Maxwell Gomera

3.3 billion people, which is almost a third of the global population live in countries where debt interest payments eclipse investment in health and education. Half of the population of people who are in countries that are suffering from debt distress live in Africa. The continent is being suffocated by unsustainable debt.
The United Nations Development Programme is advocating for debt relief or putting a pause on debt payments. That may not be enough to address the issue of debt distress, which is why UNDP Rwanda, the government of Rwanda, and other partners are working together to develop a sustainable finance roadmap.
