My understanding of his advice is based on the type and quality of people you are bringing in to take part of your pie..... it's not worth it if you let wrong people to invest in your business via equity acquisition if they are going to give you problems. Equity is permanent while debt has a deadline/ end date. You can pay back debt to a wrong person while its difficult to acquire back the equity you sold to a wrong person. 1% of a billion dollars pie is only worth it if you bring in the right people.
