Thanks for sharing your wisdom sir. This is very relevant to crisis we are facing right now. Back then i could remember one of the 8 impact program in combating malnutrition is FOOD SECURITY. Increasing rate of malnutrition is inevitable due to the outcome of covid. It's about time to embrace nature. Let our hands get dirty. Grow your own food. As Nutritionist it is one of my advocacy to promote backyard gardening. I, myself raise chicken, plants all sorts of vegetables and truly it helps a lot. It reduces our buying consumption. Whenever i get a harvest i bring it to my work and sell it to my colleagues. Never get tired of sharing your knowledge sir jon. We keep following you.

I plant kangkong in a 5x5m2 many years ago. 5 neighboring household caters their kangkong vegetable cooking needs in my kangkong patch. Kangkong, Ipomea aquatica upland variety is also known as morning glory, watercrest, water spinach in our country Philippines. Rich in calcium and vitamin A and C. I also have perennialy taro or Colocasia which is very popular vegetables for our region.I am a practicing agriculturist and I admire Jon Jandai of his advocacies in making processed foods such as banana juice, yoghurt, energy-saving rice cooking method and planting practies. I have 10 coconut trees around my land about 15 years old. it reallt took 3 years for me to to care of it before the canopy closed together with some narra Pterocarpus indicus and fruit trees as intercrop. This helps alot in a self reliant sustainable living. I also practice planting fruit trees in the midst of banana stumps in its canopy, one jackfruit alreary born fruits. Jon Jandai's simple living practices corroborate Schumacher's philosophy of "Small is Beautiful". Avoiding so much time reading and learning which are not practiceable. His wide knowledge of backyard planting is deep enough to convince many of sustainable and that's all we need today. Life is easy when we nurture nature and let it nurture us.

A real thinker. Nice explanation of eminent future. That culture has become a life reliance on credit : (the ability of a customer to obtain goods or services before payment, based on the trust that payment will be made in the future.) Even to the point any many places cannot buy or rent apartment without high credit score. There's a worldwide organized group over 8 million strong representing all peoples and all languages that for decades have simplified there lives in preparation for this very time period. They've been telling their neighbors about the future, that we are now living in, for a hundred years.

You are right about Europe's economy. Many countries are in debt and still we have to give more to other countries. Groceries are getting expensive too. I don't even spend much but lose more money. I do spend more on foods and drinks, i live i a country with 4 seasons so can't grow much outside in two seasons. That's why we store food in freezer during autumn and winter.
@nikkion21404 жыл бұрын
A suggestion: go back and look into the past how previous generations managed to grow food for seasons which may give you clues. They did not have freezers before! I remember we cooked according to seasonally available vegetables over 4 decades ago, so I think it is doable. The only drink we really need is water!, You can make your own juices from fruits (if you grow them) or wines (brew from your homegrown grapes). Maybe not coffee or tea!!

In California 99 percent of farmers are subsidized by the government with loans, grants, etc. Their crops are sprayed heavy; people here are used to eating synthetic; real tasty organics foods are expensive and not always available; so its better to eat cheap and drive a BMW and Lexus. The saying goes: people don't see your cheap eats or where you live, but they see the car you drive - image most important in US of A. Today in America materialism is #1. Don't try to make friends here, just cling to your love ones and build them up in hope for a better future.

"If anyone has land" You just said what is the biggest problem. Land in the west is very, very expensive. and there will not be any collapse in the USA, just a rise in inflation which will be controlled by rising interest rates. Money is just a way of deciding how to transfer the value of different items when the items are exchanged. Its extremely important, otherwise how could you pay for your cataract surgery? How many baskets of fruit would you need?

@nikkion21404 жыл бұрын
In reality, we do not have true capitalism! We could not if we have social programs. Socialism never works because one person existence is at the expense of the other, with government being the middle man who takes from Peter to give Paul and present themselves as the saviour; when in fact government are the real parasites! The poor is being made poorer by government tax! Here is how: they tax everyone including the poor for every penny they earn without taking into account what is the minimum for living above poverty line. In my country UK, any earning over £12K is taxed and it cost you £18K per year to pay for basics (food, shelter, cloths, utilities...). So if you earn £18K, because of tax, you go into debts to fill the gap every year, essentially the government is pushing you lower and lower below the poverty line. And everyone is worshiping government "tax the rich". Believe me, I am not rich, I can see the real problem and tax the rich or take from the rich is not the answer but stop taxing the poor. My 2 cents. God Bless. Peace.
