Working the system to your advantage and corruption isn't blue or red. It's just wrong period. I can easily answer Judge Nunn's question. Why if the city wanted to make money why would they just pull over or go house to house where poor black families live??? Because they have neither the means nor the resources to fight. And the reason that case was settled out of court so quickly is because it was WRONG. And the officials knew it.

They didn't show NY on the map, but in 1997 I was doing a temp gig at the Jacob Javits center. I was doing catering work black tuxedo and all. Midway through my shift I was approached by two state highway patrol officers. This was at the time that security at Jacob Javits was run by the highway patrol. They had done a background check on all temp personnel and had discovered an outstanding warrant issued to me. The warrant was due to an unpaid transit authority ticket I had received in 1989!!! I had jumped the turnstile, received a ticket, and had not paid it so the warrant was issued. The highway patrol cuffed me, called NYPD. NYPD came to pick me up and took me Kings County court. Went through the whole bullpen therapy bullshit, in my tuxedo, mind you...didn't get to see the judge that day, spent the night in the holding cells with plenty of others...anyone who's been through the NYC courts knows how fucked up it is. Next day I get to see the judge he gives me the option to pay $50 or 10 days jail time...fortunately I had cashed a check a few days prior and had the cash on me so paid my way out, but had I not had it, it was jail for me. This is pretty much what they are describing in this video. Ruthless, heartless, inhumane motherfuckers, seriously!

Gregory Fabre Just ignore the other commenters. Must be nice to be perfect and to have never done anything stupid or illegal once in their lives....even through the wild adolescent/teenage years! Personally, I can’t believe the govt went to all that expense over such a minor offence that happened almost a decade ago. Also, the option between paying $50 OR 10 days in jail???! Wow! If you didn’t have the $50 you could have been placed in jail amongst rapists, murderers, etc. That just seems so messed up! Here in Canada first off your nearly decade old infraction would most likely have just been simply dismissed but even if not, worst thing is you might have to do a couple of hours of community service. Jail here is usually reserved for the criminals!

@LadyGaGa is hot No its not. When's the last time you read the Constitution, Bill of Rights, or even the Declaration of Independence? The Constitution isnt the problem, the problem is there isnt anyone holding people in power accountable. It happens within any system, even in anarchy. Id like to vote to bring the government back from 150 years ago (we can keep the "progress" of civil rights). I dont like any politician or public servant running, there isnt a single constitutionalist or person that actually cares for the Constitution. They all seem power hungry, dismissing those checks and balances, and infringing or taxing where ever they can. Trump is definitely better than anyone else running but thats pretty blight when you put him up against the Founders or presidents that came shortly after. No one seems to care about Liberty, Freedom, or our communities anymore. Trump cares about business and the economy but he's been trying to appease the Dem's alot lately and it worries me. They wont vote for him, they hate him, and we get no where. What we need is organized marches and the forceful removal of Oath Breakers, remind them that they serve us and not themselves or their own. Without that lingering fear of the citizens, this is where we end up- total tyrants in office (Im not talking about Trump). We need to remove every politician (especially Dual Citizenship Officials) that does not align with the Constitution, the way it was meant to be read using the terms and definitions of the period it was written....not the "interpretations" they believe we should see it as...it's as clear as glass on what it stands for and what it outlines. All of the politicians on the news today are against the Constitution and have broken their Oath in one aspect or another and they should be unseated for it. Those like Feinstein, Pelosi, Schumer, and the other Anti-Gun/Anti-Freedom Politicians should be jailed for Sedition for repeatedly proposing Unjust Laws - criminalizing the Citizenry and leaving them defenseless against criminals and Government. If the Constitution isn't "set in stone" than neither are your Rights and if its not taken seriously than we are all in trouble...like the trouble we see constantly today and it will not be very long until the majority of people grow tired of it and say "enough is enough" and take up arms. This is why they are trying to restrict, regulate, and tax the crap out of anything that gives the population any chance against the increasingly Authoritarian/Tyrannical Government today. What I am advocate for is severely limiting and reducing the size of Government, reigning back its power and give it back to the communities. Allowing people to use their money they earned how they like, people need help but people have been programmed by social engineering to be narcissistic and self absorbed, if this social engineering can be reverse we wouldnt need mandatory programs to help others...we would do it because it is self satisfying and brings the community together...like it used to be. People used to get along just fine and communities would raise funds for people that needed it and then help them get jobs/solve problems, today's social systems do not fix anything - they keep those people in the same spot barely surviving while everyone is extorted of their incomes without consent. Big Government, Corporations, Politicians and organizations dividing the people to gather votes - fracturing the thought process/critical thinking skills and trading them for tribal behaviors. People are far more immature, ignorant, and dependent because of the Government Nanny State and the Party Paradigm. Government has destroyed the Communities and the bond of neighbors. Government is nothing more than a dangerous religion today, your faith in it is so strong that you will easily disregard your responsibility as a person and give it to others - showing that you feel that people hold a higher authority over your life than you do. How often do you have interactions with the Government? Unless your living on welfare or deal with the courts your likely not heavily involved with or have relations with Government. How do you survive without them telling you how to behave or act during the day??? You do realize that everything we have today was set in motion from individuals of anarchy right? The rules are already administered within the Constitution and the Golden Rule. Right and wrong are self evident, natural and can easily be deciphered through cause and effect. All "wrong" things have a negative reaction, this is what classifies them as "wrong". Theft, Assault, Murder, Extortion, Robbery and the other basic crimes are the only thing that should be held against people....there isnt much else to legislate against aside from criminalizing people that have no criminal intent. The Constitution is closer to anarchy than what we have today, we are worse off than ever, a criminal body disguised as elite government officials creating legislation to extort and criminalize the people they are supposed to represent. Bad (immoral) actions are bad because they're bad. What makes an immoral action negative is its negative consequence, but that consequence is an inherent part of the action within a particular set of circumstances. All Im really saying here is that actions with bad consequences have bad consequences. Morality is just a description of reality; it adds no new content. It's not another level of qualification, and it requires no external source, be it divine or cultural. The moral nature of an action is a factual description of the action itself. Immoral action is defined by its context, which includes its consequences. If I take a cookie from you, this action may be moral or immoral depending on whether you gave your consent to my taking it. The action of cookie-taking is neutral, but when performed within a certain set of circumstances, the consequences can be quite different. The only thing that makes one such cookie-taking immoral (theft) and the other moral (graciously receiving a gift) is the negative consequence. The negative consequence of all immoral action is the creation of an environment that inhibits the authentic expression of the being in question. In other words, immoral actions do not permit full expression of man's free-will autonomy, which is inherent to his nature. This is what defines the action as immoral. The action does not duly acknowledge the reality of the being. It is a denial of truth. It is a lie. So immorality is simply acting out of accord with truth - of course this will have negative practical consequences (just like ignoring the heat of a hot stove, or the immutable effects of gravity). More importantly, the immoral action is itself a negative, being an action inspired by error. We do not need to understand some complex chain of causality to see this. There is no leap to make. We need not understand anything more complex than "A is A" to see that morality (acting in accord with truth) is an absolute imperative under any and all circumstances, and that immoral action can never be prudent, desirable, or necessary. Government cannot give you anything unless it has taken it from you beforehand, it is force being used against others for the benefit of a small group, nothing more. Government isnt a good thing and it boggles my mind why anyone would want more of it, every problem we have today stems from government. We have jumped away from the Constitution and how the Government was supposed to function and turned it into a nanny state/police state and everyone is miserable because of it. You are only responsible for yourself and your family, police have no obligation to protect you (DeShaney v. Winnebago County) and taking care of others outside of your family should only be voluntary. Government should not extort the population of their own hard earned monies to give to others, it should be a voluntary system. Government should be reduced drastically and people should govern their own actions like you do during your daily routine...no one needs Government telling them whats okay, whats not, what they can or can not have or what they can or can not do....that's what being an Adult is. I do not need a "ruler" and no one holds a higher authority over my own life than I do.

The jail system in the south is all kinds of messed up. In Texas, you are charged as an adult at 17. Only 6 days after my 17th birthday , I was getting a ride home from a party, from a friend who had a couple grams of pot in his pocket. We were pulled over and they took us to the back of the car separately to question us. I didn't know anything about any pot so when they asked me about it, I said I didn't know. BOOM, they slammed me against the back of the car and start to put cuffs on. They do not read me my rights. The driver and I are both charged for his pot. I get sent to jail, I don't have bail money so i miss the beginning of my senior year in high school. My family freaks out and kicks me out. ( I was living with my grandparents, my parents had drug issues, hence the freak out) So now I'm homeless and cant afford to even attend my senior year. I didn't have money for books, pencils, paper, backpack, food , anything. So I'm sleeping on various friends couches, working a full time minimum wage job to pay back the state for the crime i didn't commit. They charged me with a $3,000 fine, 1 year probation, which comes with probation fees in the hundreds of dollars. And to top it all off, the county was getting extra scandalous by hiring these, now deemed illegal, counseling centers. It went something like this. In court they say, you have to attend ECCC , ellis county counseling centers, Or we'll put you back in jail. Keep in mind I just turned 17 this is all terrifying to me. So I go to the counseling center. There is a $180 fee up top. Then I am asked to fill out a questionnaire of about 200 questions. Afterwards a counselor takes me to a back room and says they reviewed my evaluation, but they don't believe me. She then proceeds to tell me I Likely have a heroine or methamphetamine addiction and that the state deems i need severe counseling. They recommend, 3 classes per week at $50-75 per class for several weeks. Its crazy the amount of money they want to extort out of me. So eventually it got so bad i had to flee the state on my misdemeanor probation. I went to California for a handful of years to live with a relative, and when I returned I was able to serve my sentence in a county jail and get everything correct with the state. HOWEVER, I still maintain that I was innocent in the first place, and they extorted thousands of dollars out of me and my family and got me kicked out of my house and forced me to drop out of high school. This shit really does ruin lives. Take it from me.

It's a fact. There are maps where I live in Little Rock of the zones where income is based. When you drive through those areas where people drive even worse than a poor person, no cops in sight. Go over to my hood and they are on every corner just waiting to pull anyone over for anything like a headlight out. I make 9k a year. I can't afford a ticket for having a headlight out. I can't even really afford the bulb so I try not to drive near dusk or dawn due to laws about lights which hardly anyone knows its a law to have them on 30 mins prior. You literally have to sit down and read every single law to find out what you could be doing wrong. Even a cracked taillight can be a ticket. It's fucking petty but the system makes more money when you are jailed. They absolutely target poor people. And while I am not a person of color, it's far worse for them. *P.S. I was crying my ass off for the parents of the young man who hung himself* one can only take so much pressure in life so it's a relatable feeling in a way which is scary to me. I have had to be homeless for months to pay fines because I am a single mom with no family and little income (i am 100% Disabled with PTSD and other things) therefore I cannot be in jail because I can't leave my kid alone for an extended amount of time then get charged for that too nor could I mentally handle jail. One must sacrifice for their own circumstances I suppose. The American Dream is a joke. Our society is brainwashed into not taking more action against things that are truly wrong and corruption is a money maker. That's exactly why people worship money. It gives them more power over the rest of "U.S."

In any system it will make your life a living hell. Situation like these to me isn't a race thing its a class thing. That's why we need to come together to fight these kind of bull shit. I believe they use the word racism to keep us separated and by doing this it keeps us a part now I'm not saying there isn't some racism but no where near what is being played. I know some people are mad that I said that and not trying to make any mad just being honest with what I see. When I see happen with whites too like Starbucks etc it has nothing to do with race! That being said, I just think we should open the conversation and see what we can do to opening it up and come together cuz with less means we have to tackle our problems and be heard in a different way and fight it together. Were all slaves to the government and our bosses and some are slaves to people attitudes and some to money. This country is beat or the same with Canada, England etc they have the same. Please people are people no matter where a person go. The poorer you are the more you seem to be taken advantage of, not fair but true. So I'm just saying lets open the conversation. Power is when we come together and tackle it together. Hearing each other stories will help us to decide what and the how's to start making change! True change!

+NewBenCity It's easier to preserve criminal legacy than to start one, and it's easier to start criminal legacy than to end it. Poverty and injustice give birth to crime, but giving them punishment doesn't usually make them stop doing crimes. They got it all backwards, and people ignorant of life's realities blame criminals. They want to survive and thrive like you and me, and they got put to a spot and made a decision. Many just follow gang legacies just like you obey your mommy and daddy when you were going school getting education. They just like you. You could be in their position in a heartbeat if your earthly wealth was taken from you. Can happen to the best of us, and those of you who are in the level of downplaying the downtrodden aren't the brightest of us. Because there's a karma, you get what's coming in this life or one of the next ones. I rather go through with it now and cut the extra bs

When 90% of the residents have a low level felony and aren't allowed to vote. This is the true purpose of these laws... to maintain power over people of color. Alright. Some of the fines, like needing to paint that garage for instance, seemed pretty excessive. However, fines for traffic violations or expired plates are pretty normal anywhere. If they wanted to fix the system, maybe put the people who can't pay into community service rather than stacking on more debt. Idk just an idea.
@mikiemike200420028 жыл бұрын
That would still be unfair to those that can't pay. If you break the law the repurcussions should be the same across the board if you're rich or poor.

@soundbite2906 жыл бұрын
MrMakemusicmike from am article written by Devin Foley intellectualtakeout.org "The truth is, America was primarily built on the industry of free people. Slavery was a terrible thing that went against the founding ideals of the country. Nonetheless, we do not need to create false narratives to know it was wrong and to have sympathy for both those who lived through it and for those who carried the scars forward. Indeed, it does damage to one’s cause to push a false narrative that cannot stand up under scrutiny and calls in to question any other statements one makes as well as the agenda for making them." To imply that this is happening as a result of slavery, undermines the responsibility of each and every person to be accountable for their actions. Clearly this is not fair. But it isn't happening because of actions that happened a lot time ago. It's an easy heartless way for the state to make money, off poor people. Racism and slavery are two very different things. Of course racism exists. Slavery existed in the world however, long before people discovered there were other races. It really does damage a cause to push a false narrative. This unfairness is a lack of humanity in modern day, right now this very day. It is not attributed to a period of time hundreds of years ago.

governments and private corporations get paid to keep people in jail. If there was no money in it, they wouldn't waste their time. The stats at the beginning showed that some municipalities make 30% of their budget from fines. They may not get cash from everyone, but what they do collect is profitable. And if the person fined does not pay, the government still gets to collect by keeping them in jail.
@slackjaw99638 жыл бұрын
+ClassicDoc they still profit because some people actually pay. and they never said only blacks get fine they said its mostly all black. its a way to keep poor people in debt and then lock them up the state gets more money for putting u in jail from the federal government than they would if u paid the 200$ fine. it keeps
