I don't think BFDI and II being canonically in the same universe is true. At least, not in BFDI. II does have some references and cameos, though I'm not really sure they're very... hmm... I don't know what to make of them, really. Besides, another thing is that the rules of the universes contradict each other. For example, in BFDI, when a contestant dies without a recovery center, they can be revived after a recovery center is built. In Inanimate Insanity, this isn't the case. Bow dies when MePhone - who is the only known method of recovery in the II universe - dies, and is unable to be recovered. Also, the afterlife (at least experienced by Bow) is a state of nothingness, and the mansion is... kind of weird, actually. It seems like an exception to the normal afterlife rules in II. It just appeared one day with ghosts in it... The afterlives in BFDI are specific dimensions you go to when you die based on how you die. Something else is that objects in II can exist outside of "the planet's" atmosphere for an hour before dying, while BFDI objects seem to asphyxiate rather normally (excluding budget cuts and mystical number powers). Also, the name of II's planet isn't like... stated out loud. Like, on the back of MePhone's phone case, it used to say "Inanimate Planet." Which... is just strange. And, it doesn't say it anymore by like II13... Something weird about this is that it implies New York (which MePhone was assembled or manufactured in idk) isn't on Inanimate Planet. In BFDI, Earth is stated to be and known to be Earth. I'd say another difference is how real countries seem to exist in II while they haven't been mentioned in BFDI, though this isn't the case anymore because the Eiffel Tower is, in fact, French in the BFDI universe. Though I'm not exactly sure how it's French here... It sure is French...? Anyways, I like to think they aren't in the same universe, though it's possible that BFDI exists in II while II doesn't in BFDI, though I'm not sure what to make of the contradictions to how the world works. And, the only times BFDI were mentioned are, if I recall correctly, mostly in Season 1 of II. I think it's early in the series (S1 Early S2) where BFDI pops up.

The first theory was already debunked as non-canon with the Battle for dream Island series confirmed by both of the creators of II and BFDI and there were only funny references there’s no evidence of them actually interacting in any bfdi seasons only in the original season of II
