I use a screen protector and have cracked then many times. Much cheaper and easier to change out a screen protector than to repair a broken screen.

Use to be a repair tech for Verizon, always got a good laugh out of how ppl thought rice was magical enough to dry out a phone lol. Also would like to add glass screen protectors do help distribute impact of fall damage. Had many of phones come in that a customer thought their screen was damaged when it was a simple peel of the old glass screen protector for a new one.

Depending on how rough your fingies are, you can rub through the screen’s protective coating. I’m not sure about how the newer coatings hold up but I’m not chancing it, even if it impacts the resolution of the screen slightly. You can always toss a new one on, where as replacing the phone’s screen after scratching up the center portion is more involved and expensive.

Agreed, countless scrolling swipes may well wear the protective coating. It sure does on screen protecters, which is why I replace main device protectors at 6 months or so. The smooth feel and smear resistance improvements of a new one is readily noticeable, plus may well end up protecting the actual screen from damage.

Screen protectors are a must for me. I have dyspraxia aka developmental coordination disability. You know that really clumsy kid in school, yeah that was and is still me at 52. Not one day goes by without me dropping things. I can say I drop my phone daily.I am just really clumsy. I have tried with and without screen protectors, i highly recommend screen protectors. I took the chance with my iphone `2 and it's very scratched up. I also took off the case and lost it a long time ago. I cracked the back and it's now got a yellowing on the front. Strange that it took getting the back glass to be cracked for the phone to have issues. Cases and screen protectors are a must.

Love you guys, but I don't know where you're coming from on the screen protectors. I had a brand new 14PM last September. I didn't use a screen protector, and within 2 months, I had horrendous scratches on the screen! I have always been really careful. Since then, there's a cheapo screen protector on it all the time (£1.99 for four!). Yes, it may get scratched or damaged easily, but isn't that the whole point? Damage your screen protector, not your screen! Keep up the good work.👍

Sure iphone screens are stronger than screen protectors. BUT... the added thickness of the screen protector WILL spread any sharp impact on the screenprotector to a larger area on the real screen underneath thus making it less liable to damage. It's science.

Here’s what I’m curious about… is a case still necessary for newer iPhones? It’s been said that they’re made so strong now that you don’t need a case but personally, I’m a little apprehensive to go caseless given how expensive the phones are.
@marief8584
@marief8584 10 ай бұрын
I’ve ALWAYS used cases, because *I* personally feel better about doing so, for the same reasoning (how expensive it is). My sister also does, and on one instance, my niece dropped her phone out the car window as it was moving. When my sister was later able to go back to try and retrieve it after dropping my niece off somewhere, she’d found it had been run over. The case itself was completely destroyed but the phone inside it was still good. We don’t know if it’s because the phone is good, or maybe the case did what it was supposed to (impact resistance, etc) but - for OUR peace of mind, we’ve always gone with the cases.

I have a problem with charging cubes. They will only work in an outlet for awhile. Then I have to move it to a new outlet. Happens with both Apple & non-Apple cubes. Outlets still work fine with other items. Same with power strips. I keep my phone in my front jeans pocket. I was struck by a car. My iPhone was seriously bent, but the screen didn't crack. No protection case, just phone. Phone worked fine.

Last year, I dropped my iPhone 13 Pro down an elevator shaft (from the 3rd floor). Meaning that tiny gap in between the elevator car when the door opens. I only had the OEM clear Apple MagSafe case on. No tempered glass screen protector. No cracks nor deep scratches nor cosmetic damages. Just a little elevator grease.

The myth that you can keep your battery health at 100% just amazes me. I see many reviewers on KZbin spouting this nonsense. Some that I feel are good reviewers, such as Zollotech and Nick Ackerman constantly bring this up. You explained it very well. I have a iPhone 13 that I checked on the app iMazing. When it was new, it had 109% battery health. It showed 100% battery health for almost a year. Now, after 22 months it is at 93%. That is the reason some phones will show 100% battery health for extended periods of time.

I have an additional comment for your screen protector section. There are screen protectors that block harmful Blue Light, which affect your eyes, and can cause problems falling asleep. With a Blue Light filtered screen protector, you will not have that problem. FYI, I use one, from EyeJust, and it reduces my eye strain and doesn’t affect my ability to fall asleep at night. I tend to use my iPhone 14 Pro Max, before I go to sleep. Plus, it does protect my phone screen from scratches, making it easier to trade in or sell, when I upgrade.

iphone fell into a bath tub that had sand in it, put a huge scratch down the screen. If it had a screen protector ($15 for 3 on Amazon) the protector would be scratched and it could be disposed of, rather than a $99 repair from Apple. Use screen protectors, but don't overpay, never get a plastic one and either install it carefully to avoid bubbles or dust or have a friend with steadier hands help.

I have an iPhone SE2020. I live in the Australian state of Tasmania . My iPhone is fully updated to 17.3 from memory. I get a plethora of drop out's .The screen goes black and then it might come back on again. It's always , "" did you hang up on me "" Answer > no I thought you did. " Rinse and repeat. We use the 4G network as the 5G is only about 10% rolled out. Why does this persistent error keep happening , is it a buggy update ? The phone is not knocked around and for a flagship and considering APPLE's devious practise's like slowing down the old iPhones and other stunts that they have pulled, like the iPod nano which bricked after 2 years of use and no way of replacement batteries ($200+ down the drain) then the iTunes fiasco , is there a problem with these updates or even the antenna ?Maybe it is yet another stunt of Apple's to try and get me to buy another iPhone. I found android far far superior TBH. I obviously have trust issues with APPLE who seem to suboptimal in doing the basic tasks.

If screen protector is not necessary then why are some screens scratched and cracked? Take a look at all the online used marked places. The statement of charging your phone to 100% NOT true, all batteries degrade, it's the last tiny bit that kills the batteries because charging the last percents are hard due to slow charging with same current and it produces heat. It's not old battery technology, it's the same and has always been li-ion for the last 20 years. Please investigate and rectify your statements.
