To be honest, 25 is about the lowest you can go as a minimal cut-off point, if we're talking beyond what's merely legal and talk strictly about what's right. How I think it ought to be is half your age + 7 until you're 36, then from that point on, don't go below 25. 25 is a fully formed adult, 18 year olds are not.

@@maryus786 Southpaw's state had an age of consent of 16, and she was someone who Southpaw knew well enough. I'm not defending his actions that he made almost 10 years ago, since it is still weird that he did that and that his parents and her parents were fine with it. But it only lasted for a month until he broke it off with her and ultimately decided it wasn't right for him to do that. He never took advantage of her, and never raped her or did anything like that. If he did, then we would have more of an issue with him and we wouldn't be associating with him. Plus, he would have legal problems if he ever did anything like that. The point is that they were in a small relationship that didn't mean much, it lasted one month, and he never did anything serious with her. He has since moved on and doesn't pursue women that young to this day. He's almost 30 now, and he doesn't even pursue women who are my age (I'm 24), since he considers them to be too young for him. He learned from his mistake and changed as a person, and the mistake he made was not horrible by any means. I'm not asking you to forget that he did that, but at least be open-minded and respect that he's trying to make a change for himself.

First of all, don’t appreciate your insensitive comments towards the people hurt by this. You can criticize me, but stop ridiculing people who were hurt. Secondly, I straight up said in the video that it was my mistake for not acting sooner, as I was banking too much on hoping they’d change and get better, as they have seemed to do at other occasions. Bear in mind that many of these occurrences are spread out between months or a year, so periods of time where they are seemingly not problematic happened.

You should watch the video because I flat out said I’m not defending him. I can take issue with his decision and still point out how people frame it wrongly to make it significantly worse than it is. While I personally can’t relate on making that mistake at age 20, I can see how the circumstances and environment he was in could lead to a misinformed mistake as opposed to a just claiming it’s a deliberately malicious action.

On top of this, pedophilia requires an age difference of at least 5 years. This standard exists so that a 17 year old and an 18 year old isn’t classified as pedophilic. They need to set a clear standard/cutoff point. For Southpaw to be a pedophile, you’d need to prove he is still interested in 16 year olds now. There is no proof of this. They are not to be used as a legal loophole to allow a 20 year old to play as close as physically possible to the pedophile line without getting trouble, which is what SouthPaw did at an age where he was more than capable of recognizing it was wrong. Dating a 16 year old at 20 isn't rendered ok just because the guy's parents agreed. SouthPaw either is, or was, a pedophile or dangerously close to it. I'm glad SouthPaw claims to have never had intercourse with the girl and claims to have changed. SouthPaw is the only one who actually knows. What he should no is that there is no moral grey here. What he did was wrong, and he deserves the consequences he faces for it. He deserves to be allowed to try and be better, but not to live down his actions.
