My take on the five money myths: 1) Renting is not throwing away money, but long term (5+ years) renting is not a wise use of capital. 2) Investing can and should be done while holding debt, but over time it is easier and more profitably done without high interest consumer debt, i.e.- credit cards, car loans, etc. 3) Emergency fund is needed so that one doesn't have to rely on credit cards for emergencies and go deeper into consumer debt while doing so. 4) Budgeting does not mean living on rice and beans alone. Have lobster and caviar as long as this is part of the budget- aka planned spending. 5) $1 million is not what it used to be, thus investing amount as percentage of one's income needs to increase because most people's wages are not keeping-up with inflation. Well done Seaside!
