Amen. People hear I’m into Legions, and they freak out. “Too expensive.” Then I break down pretty much what you shared. “I just went all-in on a wave and it breaks down in simple math terms to $33 per figure. Or $37 if you want singles.” Then I bring up how Marvel Legends Ragnarok Thor is $32, and Masterverse New Eternia Beast Man is $40.49 at my local Targets. [Awkward silence.] And don’t get me started on comparing quality.

The near $40 price tag for a new figure is kinda expensive for me. In fact, I wouldn't pay that for any of the other lines I collect. BUT the value is there with Mythic Legions especially if you're a customizer! I would advise anyone who wants to collect this line to get in on the preorders. Preorders + Patience = Happy Mythic Legions collector! :)

As an old collector, 4H's approach to making figures available is really superb. It doesn't get said enough how good it is to be able to just preorder what you want and still have things available at a later date through in stock sales, all star waves, retail partners, etc. The aftermarket can be brutal, but the community really steps up to sure this line doesn't fall to scalpers. Great video as always Jeremy, and I hope new collectors to Legions grasp that this isn't the same way of collecting as other lines, it is refreshingly apart.

Call them "scalpers", call them resellers, call them whatever you want. There will ALWAYS be people selling toys for a markup - BUT, as you've said, the fact that you can preorder exactly what you want really means that these are as accessible as possible. Add in show sales, in stocks, or even Approved Retailers who offer them at a small markup and there really are multiple to ways to get access to these at retail cost or close to it.

The McFarlane horse is $40, I have it and like it but it doesn't come close to 4H.

wanted to share my experience as someone who collects across the board - from gunpla (over 12 years) to Mythic. Before getting freight forwarding, i was not aware i could purchase directly from 4H at a cheaper price. My first contact with the line was via resellers like BBTS where a named character is 49 usd and a deluxe builder 45. For that price i was getting a Master Grade(gundam). For 100 usd where i could get two mythic legions, one can get 4 GI Joe classified (which is great value for the price)/ 3 Valaverse figures/ 5 McFarlane figures(uneven across the board) or 3 Marvel selects (that rampaging hulk). It is only when you get your first ML in hand that you realise the value, beauty, versality of the line...Anyone on the fence should get their first.

Question for Jeremy : So I had this pair of Blue Wings that I put on Zazhar and it looked fantastic. Is there any possibility to have some Yellow wings for Azhar as well?

I absolutely love this line but the price combined with the size and scope of it all is so overwhelming. First off I'm a completionist and secondly I'm a sicko army builder where I have to have at least 10-12 to consider it an actual army. My point is though that's my problem. I know that I won't be able to do things the way I want to so I blame my "sickness" aka expectations. You can't blame the line for you not being able to get what you want to get at the price you want to get them at. I think they've been more than fair in their pricing with what they give you. I swear to God though if I had unlimited resources I'd get 3 of all the main figures and at least a dozen of all the army builders and horses/beasts. They're that cool.

Fair comments that to get the line the way YOU want it, it would be expensive, but realistically, won't that be the case for nearly any line these days? With so many of the mass-market lines like Black Series, Marvel Legends, Classified, etc. going up in price, the difference between one of those and Legions is really nowhere near the gap it used to be!

A steal compared to the crap Mafex or SH Figuarts put out. And now stepping up their soft goods to put Mezco on notice. Mythic Legions are a unique line in the space, priced like a retail line, specialty line quality... scratch that, better than specialty line quality. Ever watch one of the Storm Collectibles reviews where the host is doing the body suit shuffle and the head keeps popping off, or a Revoltech review where they have to pose it off camera? You don't get that with Legions reviews.

I think the re-release of figures is a huge opportunity for new collectors. I have been collecting for less than a year and have had the opportunity to get all stars 3, 4, and 5; as well as the reinforcement wave.

Got a few figures and no argument on the quality of these! But as much as would love to order more, budget is tight. So for example on all star 5 I can only get Rahmulus, who I have been wanting for a long time. I wish the price hike was not so high with the retailers. $15 to 18 is quite a bit. Maybe consider limiting hike to $5 in retailers.

Roach(witcher horse),as a megafig, is actually 40 in fact - only Gamestop carries it at 31. ML horses are "only" 55 in comparison and you are getting your money's worth in both cases.

Speaking of cosmic, one thing that may feel strange for someone getting into the line, the "army builders" from the T.U.5.C.C faction were at 25 usd - which is an amazing price. But for resellers it is a 45 usd figure (unlike former army builders which were at 40 usd). As far as i can tell, army builders still carry less paint than named characters and the markup does feel close to a 100%.

Just to be clear I'm happy I got mine but if someone wanted a sample or entry point into the new line, there's no 40 something figure available as entry point unlike the army builders of mythic legions. But then again you do get some extra pieces such as a 2nd head

Last time checked several Hasbro black series are going for 38.99 so for me it’s not even a contest…..ML are worth the money as far as I am concerned. Side by side comparisons with Mcfarlane DC or Marvel Legends the ML figures shelf presence is far superior and the MLs come with tons of extras for the most part but of course I am not a toy photographer so others will disagree

It’s a hellish line to collect in the uk, incredibly low supply, only a couple of stores carry them, and not in great volume. Unless you’re in a position to put down a lot of cash a year in advance there is little to no chance of in stock figures. I’ve resorted to ordering from Europe. God forbid I order from bbts and the custom charge wipes me out for a month. I have found several figures I want, not for an unreasonable price too, but when I factor in shipping and customs the price nearly doubled. Honestly, being an overseas collector is expensive as hell. Doesn’t help that most of these scalpers are jut collectors trying to offset their purchase prices. Money really is the root of all our problems

We are adding a number of new retailers, including some in Europe, which will hopefully help make some of these more readily available to you. Unfortunately, we have no control over the rise in shipping prices or what countries charge for customs, but we know what an impact that has.

@@MythicCustoms due to the aftermarket prices in the UK/EU I am seeing a big rise in the communities of people recommending and using Chinese sellers for Mythics. Do you have any insight into how the availability of old waves is possible on services such as Ali Express and what the risks are of such purchases? From what I understand, people in China purchase the used molds from the approved factories and begin production again to varying levels of quality without the oversight of Four Horsemen with the initial intent of serving the Chinese market but end up having no barrier to selling globally.

Just don’t agree with arguments made in this video at all· Neca for the price are better value and certainly have much cheaper international postage. Love the line and still enjoy collecting but important That 4h do not surround themselves by super fans and recognize their figures are a premium expensive line. The weapons and accessories are just pure repetition most of the time and I would urge them to focus on quality rather than quantity

Well "international postage" has zero to do with the value of the figures themselves. Extra expenses like sales taxes, shipping, etc. are beyond the cost the studio places on the figures. As for repetition and reuse - every line does that, and it is frankly one of the foundational elements the Legions line was built on. That being said, if you actually look at the armory of weapons, there is quite a bit of variety, and with upcoming waves we are going to see that continue to grow. The Poxxus wave has a ton of new weapons and accessory parts and that is something we will see more and more of. The Legions lines are definately not mass market, but I think you missed a big part of the point of my video - that it is unfair to judge the value of these based on secondary market prices for the highest valued figures rather than the preorder/retail cost of them.

Toy collecting is not an inexpensive hobby for sure, especially if you dig multiple lines! I never begrudge anyone who says they are not a completist and only buy what they like (and what they can afford). THAT is the smart way to do this and enjoy the hobby!

I am curious about this comment - they are too expensive compared to what? What lines do you think provide more value for the price than Legions? I am genuinely curious, because as someone who collects multiple lines, I really do think the "bang for your buck" with Legions is unmatched right now.

@@MythicCustoms I collect imports, Super7, NECA, etc. I said they are for the most part worth it, meaning yes bang for your buck is typically what I feel about Mythics. I still think some of them are too expensive I wouldn't deny someone who told me that as I can see that view as well. Figures have gotten more expensive lately in general. NECA to me personally provides more value than Mythics, they are tough to beat.

Mythic Legions are still expensive. 40+ dollars for a figure is a lot for some people to swallow. I think it's unrealistic to compare retail figures to Ebay.

Again, I ask "expensive compared to what?" $37 for a standard figure based on what you get still seems like a solid prices for me, especially when I am paying nearly that for mass market stuff and WAY more than that for stuff from Mezco or Super7. In the end, everyone has to make a value judgement, and I don't begrudge anyone their opinion, but I am genuinely curious when someone says these are expensive at $37, what figures are they collecting that they believe are a better overall value?

@@MythicCustoms I feel like I should have been more clear. I just think figures in general are getting really expensive. I will say that one of the best parts of Mythic is that they've only increased by two dollars since the start, but have added extra hands, heads, wired cloth goods and much more. You really don't see that from any other company.
