As a runner? Nah. Even though he played hurt for half of his playing season, he still averaged 4.9 ypc. Herbert is very good at hitting the right hole at the right time going full speed and runs through tackles at a consistent clip too. He just doesn't look like he is good because he doesn't do anything flashy, like Montgomery.

Bears defense is overrated... still needs to tighten it up... after watching the Packers dismantle them. So yes... another 'Mack Truck' would be a nice addition. But after seeing the Bengals put two 6' 8" Monsters' infront of Burrows ... I'm still hoping the Bears Oline is truly updated and strong

The offensive line didn't change when bagent was in? Yes it did. Tevin Jenkins returned as a starter against Minnesota, which was the same game Justin got injured. Braxton Jones also returned when Bagent was QB.... which was the first time those two played together all season. I'm pro Caleb and am very excited about his potential but the O line definitely got more healthy when Bagent was under center.
@runnin3216
@runnin3216 2 ай бұрын
They also removed Whitehair from center so Bagent didn't have to deal with the wild snaps. Probably the biggest difference is those were horrible teams Bagent started against, which included all 3 of the teams that fired their coach mid-season.
@michaeldodson8220
@michaeldodson8220 2 ай бұрын
@@runnin3216 Good point, forgot about that. First few games of the season was a disaster for the entire team. Oline was hurt, Nate Davis was dealing with personal issues, Wright was a rookie. Claypool distraction. Alan Williams debacle. Defense was awful. Tough to perform in those conditions. Then Fields got hurt and had to deal with Bagent mania, then he came back with a brace with many fans already screaming Caleb. Move is Caleb because he looks like a stud but to say that they couldn't have also been successful with a trade back is silly.

If Waldron runs the offense the way Shea says with Caleb mostly in shotgun running play action and throwing all over the field we could see some big numbers as a rookie. He could throw 30 tds and 4k yards. The price will likely be a lot of interceptions although to be fair Caleb simply didnt throw a lot of picks in college.

I just want the Bears to get it right! There is something about Caleb that makes me feel he isn't the right QB for the Bears. I prefer the traditional QB who sits in the pocket and gets rid of the 🏈 quick. ( Manning/ Brady)

If you have watched NFL football over the last 15 years or so, the QB position has changed. Pure pocket passers are going the way of the dodo most of the most popular QBs are dual-threat/super athletic. Other coaches either haven't caught up to it or refuse to adapt to the changes, If CW is drafted by the Bears, he will be fine. It depends on how fact he can grasp NFL concepts and how the coaching staff can adjust their playbook in a way that plays to his strengths

Yeah Justin didn’t average two TD’s a game, 13 games, 16 TD’s. I’m not gonna rail Justin 2 TD’s a game is not easy, not a lot of QB’s throwing 34 TD’s in a season. Kickers account for a lot of points.

Justin fields, possibly through no fault of his own, was never able to take the steps necessary to demonstrate that he was developing into a star. He had flashes and showed potential that was just incredible but he also never beat Green Bay which is a big deal to most bears fans. Had we kept Justin fields he COULD have been special but he WOULD have been expensive. Now we can take a guy like Williams who COULD be special and WILL be cheap and spend a ton more money building a team around him. Plus Williams has the potential be a franchise altering type of special.
