Thank you for this. I used to play a lot of piano when younger, even finishing a diploma, and stopped when i started uni. Now older I'm a bit dissapointed in how much skills I've lost, but have started piano again with the Arabesque as one of pieces im learning - the video is helping me a lot with my confidence. Ill be rewatching this a lot.

Absolutely excellent video and hugely useful download from somebody who understands teaching. Thank you. I have 'played' this piece for years and will now violate it again with your material. Not sure where this comment is aimed now - I am nearly 75 years old. live in peace on a hill overlooking sea and mountains in Crete and play piano at least three hours a day which is a dream existence. All my life I played music (badly) and it has been my mainstay whilst studying and working away from music.. However a (smallish) cloud over my musical enjoyment has been limits set on my musical enjoyment by a lack of music discipline in my formative years. I had/have the 'basics' in all areas (theory, ear training, harmony, piano pedalling etc) but I do regret not having had developed these essentials. Even when I could have, i never had sense/patience/space to do what I would recommend a mature music lover to do in that situation - take serious time out, even away from the instrument, to build a strong foundation. This video is wonderful for me and more than just a plaster over small wound.

I'm glad this video was helpful to you! I'm thrilled that you've been able to experience the joy that piano brings- and in such a spectacular location! I understand your disappointment at what could have been over the years, but it is truly never to late to discover your passion and gift for any skill- including piano. You can do it! 😊

Fabulous! Beyond my (current) skill level, but so helpful in a general way to help me learn how to listen / learn new pieces. Thank you so much!

Love this piece with Monets painting, is magical. I’m preparing this piece for performance at sf botanical gardens, a nice place for this kind of music.

Very impressive lesson. I subscribed to your channel. Always wanted to learn this piece. Listen to Isao Tomita's version switched on with piano's and synths. Very Interesting. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks for the video and can't wait to see what is next.

@@ThePianoProfKateBoyd I would have to watch your video all over again! But I have taught this piece many times over the years and always find finding the right RH fingering for students challenging, as people have such different proclivities in fingering. Also, I think we go for quite a lot 1-2-1-2 etc in the LH. You look so much like my Northern Irish daughter-in-law! And I really enjoyed your videos. Teacher love watching other teachers as salesmen love 'being sold to!!
