Vegan meatballs or solid dumplings of any sort are quite easy and can be done in many ways. Beans and/or lentils are the most common, but for those who don't want a unique but somewhat familiar dish, there is also vegan meat that can be used for meatballs which is almost a replica, as for potatoes, they are usually fried and unhealthy in most cuisines and even the German and Norwegian boiled potato dumplings are ultimately not great in terms of nutrition unless you are eating them as a side with a protein rich main dish, so while it may make sense with a side of meat, it makes far less sense as a vegan dish. Some of my favorites are dumplings (both solid and wrapped) made from different varieties of sweet potatoes. In terms of savory there are both Asian and Middle Eastern influences I love, usually with some South American background as well, while my preference for sweet is almost always Asian with the occasional American (either Native or sometimes Southern African American cuisines.) Sweet potatoes are a lot healthier and carry a lot more flavor on their own, but once again, must be paired with protein, but because they carry so much flavor on their own, I find they do well as sides or as a part of a protein filled dish, complementing the flavors of your vegan protein.

As a vegetarian I have to say vegan meat is not a replica, the taste is way different and the only way to get it to taste close is with lots of seasoning / sauce with the exception of chicken which is incredibly close to real chicken

@@Logan-hw7mn I have never even touched meat in my life, so I rely entirely on friends in the food industry who have. I personally don't believe in replicas, if you ask me it is a fundamentally flawed way to approach creating a dish. I have always preferred inspired dishes that bring something new to the table.
