There was a modding hub in the Bioware NWN community in the late 1990's that generated amazing game ideas. The core of DA lore was shared by David Gaider as an intriguing world idea. I am also 66, and I began my RPG gaming journey on an Apple IIe. The DA series is the absolute best idea brought to life. Time is important to this story. I look forward to seeing that angle play out.

I want a big Dragon Age segment at the summer game fest, something like Starfield did, like 30 mins with devs showing us the game and talking about it. At the end there would be release date reveal. Then maybe some smaller trailers trough out the summer to hype up the game probably 🤔 and also after June 7th maybe start with pre-orders with cover artwork reveal 😍

Make it weekly or every two weeks. Ask with survey or whatever for the ppl and fans what topic to cover (the blight, the cunary, the old gods, the songs, SoLavellan etc) and when the time comes, make a podcast for 30-40 mins talking only about that.

I agree with Mythal ending up being the future villain ! If you look at it closely, Solas is the only one of the two who keeps talking about his plight to restore the old world. Mythal / Flemeth on the other hand, is clearly set on getting something more personal : "A reckoning that will shake the very heavens", as Flemeth says in Inquisition. That sounds pretty unhinged and ominous to me.

I am so glad I found this podcast in its infancy becuase I truly love this game so much and I finally found people who love it as much as I do. I started this game with DAI and honestly I haven't been able to put it out of my mind since. This game literally has saved me as I was in a really really dark place when I finally played it and I fell in love with the Inquisition cast then going back to play Origin, Awakening and 2 truly was amazing. These characters are all so charming and well written and when I heard Dreadwolf was confirmed I screamed and I've been trying my hardest to follow all things Dragon age. This game is the biggest reason im still alive as I feel I have to make it to see the new cast and fall in love with them and also hope ill see old characters that I adore again. I have such high hopes for this game and I felt it when Lisa said she'd feel empty after her first playthrough cause that's how I felt after beating each game. 😭😭 this game truly is a passion project and you can absolutely feel it in every aspect of the game and im so glad I found a community that feels the same way 💙💙

Ok. I was a teen when DA:I came out. I was depressed, a bit on the unaliving side… I really loved that game though. As it is now. I’m a lot more mentally healthy, a full grown adult, with like a spouse and a child. My husband got the pretty deluxe version of Zelda last year. My caveat for agreeing he could get it is if I could have the pretty deluxe version of Dreadwolf if it EVER CAME OUT. I’m so freaking excited at this point.

It’s so funny cause I started playing Dragon Age when I was like 14 and my dad and stepmom just divorced. We had a TV, lawn chairs, a PS3, and DA:2. That game holds a very special place in my heart for that reason.

My biggest hope is that they base the role playing choices on origins. I want to be able to make genuinely evil choices that can advance the story. I want there to be disadvantages to making the "good" choices. Make it difficult to make the "good" choice. The fact that you have the options with Kitty, and the Jarls son in origins are what's needed.

Totally agree with almost everything said here. Brilliant conversation. And YES!! If we have old gods, elves and rift travel into a mythical dream realm, the Dark Emporium and illusory magic, WHYYYYY can't we transmog our clothes. If they get rid of both turn based AND real time with pause, I probably won't play it. I know the devs can't commit, but I AM committed. If I wanted to play Diablo I'd be playing diablo. I want to be able to relax in combat, and I want to be able to control my party. Also, let me play a GD healer. I HATE reliance on potions. HATE IT. I am a healer at heart. I ADORED healing in DA:O and DA:2. Let me heal!! There's been SO much obscene retconning in DA that adding it back in would be NOTHING. Totally agree about the fetch quests too. Either make them organic like like ME1, or make them relevant to the story like in DA:O. Unfortunately, my expectations are VERY low. I'm not at all hopeful for DA:D. I get the idea of managing/limiting unreasonable hype, but I have a terrible sinking feeling. There has been ZERO leadup to a late 2024 release. There's been NO recent gameplay footage, there's been nothing. I'm really worried about the quality of this game and I will absolutely not trust it until a good month post release when all the Twitch/KZbin creators have reviewed it with LIVE footage. I mean, I'll be VERY impatiently awaiting that footage, but I'm scared. The foreboding is real.

thank you all for this and your nod to Origins mage trees! For Dreadwolf resolving the lore, and character race/class effecting dialogue are a must for me. My biggest hope/dream would be about the aesthetics of the game, where the environments and animations have a much darker mood and feel like origins, where the hues aren't so hyper saturated and more filtered. As a mage player having specializations that don't just recycle abilities from previous games and force them into a tree where it doesn't make sense would really help too, and please let them bring back healing.

I really feel like they will miss an absolute GEM if they don't have the final fight of the series be all of our (surviving) protagonists teaming up and ending the Dragon Age. If they plan on this being the final game then I'd love to see it at the end of DAD, but if not I hope they save it for the series finale at the end of game 5! I am absolutely loving this podcast as well. Listening while playing DAI is such a good combo, so please please make more! I'm so excited to follow the dread crumbs as we get closer to release and will be donning the full clown get up this summer 🤡

It won’t be the final game, because bioware won’t leave money on the table like that. This’ll probably end this arc, and perhaps the RPG style of dragon age game, but it’s pretty objectively not the end of the dragon age, we’re only halfway through the bastard as it is.

My tin foil guess for the game is that it's gonna feel most like Mass effect 2. We'll have a ship to act as the main hub to be taken to smaller linear action-RPG levels that focus on collecting companions/preparing for a final Heist/assassination mission to stop Solas.

I was so excited for this to come out, and I am not disappointed in the slightest! Looking forward to more. My realistic hopes: I hope that it focuses as much as possible on story/lore. I would like some closure on the Solas storyline with maybe a setup for Mythal as the next baddie in the next game. I would like a good mix of Dark Fantasy elements which I feel is core to DA world. And I want to be just immersed into parts of Thedas I haven't seen yet. I would also love better hair and transmog. As for my crazy - not likely to happen wishes: I would LOVE a return of some sort of origin story system based on ur race or a possible background u could choose (slave, carta/underworld, nobility, etc). I NEED specifically closure for my broken Solavellan heart. But overall I just want Bioware to give us the best game they can. The game that makes them proud to have made it. Dragon Age as a series means so much to me. It was the first game that fully pulled me in to the lore and made me the completionist gamer that I have become. I have been waiting since 2015 (I came to the series a bit late) and I'm so excited to get another one!

Great podcast! After more than 15 years following the saga, I think I've come to a satisfactory theory of what really created the Blight, and basically what Solas and the Evanuris really did to jumpstart the setting we love. I don't think there is a better place to share it. --------- SPOILERS THE THEORY: The Evanuris created the "Blight". It was their main source of power and what they used to enslave other races, their own population, and beasts. That's what Solas actually selaed away with the Veil, and thats what the Old Gods/ Evanuris sent the Tevinter Magisters to get back from the Fade. It's actually really simple and a single quote of Corypheus i relistened to just a few days ago suddenly made it all clear. It is found in one of the memory crystals during the "UNder her skin" quest, in Dumat's Inner Sanctum: "Did the others never return from the Black City? There is no record even of our names! We are vilified by legend. They spit on our deeds and claim we brought darkness into the world. We DISCOVERED the darkness. We CLAIMED IT as our own, let it permeate our being". Now, for years I thought this was just a metaphorical statement, that the Fade was just so horrible, and the Magisters were just so angry, that they decided to come back from the Fade and burn all Thedas to the ground. But then I realized this wouldnt explain them becoming the first Darkspawn. And then, on the most recent playthrough, it clicked. Bioware goes really out of its way to essentially debunk the Maker theory, and present Corypheus as evil but ultimately always straightforward with us. While Solas, even if not exactly evil, lies to our face all the time. And his name means "Pride". What does this mean? That Corypheus and the Magisters did actually enter the Fade in the name of Dumat and the Old Gods, but what they found was not the Gods, but the instrument of their power, what we now call "Blight", what Corypheus calls "the darkness", and what Solas actually sealed away by creating the Veil (remember the first sneak peak at Dreadwolf with the mosaic of Solas sealing a statuette with red crystals at the bottom). Why is the "Blight" the power source the Old Gods, which we can now call Evanuris, seeked in the Fade? Because its the substance/magic they used to enslave the people and beings of their time, making them all connected to some sort of Hivemind controlled by the Evanuris themselves. Sounds familiar? It's the Calling. The same thing an Archdemon does to control the Darkspawn forces. Solas of course knows all of this, and knows perfectly well that the Old Gods in the Deep Roads are the Evanuris, although he desperately tries to convince us that tere is no connection. They were lying despots millennia ago, there is no reason they wouldnt be now. And what do we know about Dumat? That he lied and manipulated Corypheus and the other Magisters, so that they could bring the "Blight" back from the Fade. All of this is sustained by the murals we find around the maps in Inquisition. They are obviously murals from the Evanuris' period, the same style Solas uses in Skyhold. All of the murals show ancient races and beasts mind controlled in some way by some red unkwown substance or magic: sometimes its just a red line over the drawings, sometimes its an outright poison flask at the center of the drawing (one example in the Hinterlands).

Out of all things touched on I'm going to say I actually think mage feels the best to play in all 3 games. Archer is actually pretty nice in DAI and DAO I think. Both warrior and rogue I never felt like it felt great to play it. It has its moments, but I think like Lisa alluded to I'm somebody that values not having a clunky feeling, and the mage feels least clunky overall. I'm hoping the game has a pause of some kind. The downside of Larian's success streak is that everybody wants to do turn-based; I don't hate it, but I admit i want to have rtwp as well in some games. It is to me the superior mode because you might as well make use of the computer doing simultaneous turns, reduces cheese and who goes first etc. I don't wish to lose it entirely :)

I have to say that if they remove the tactics then the game will just be a disappointment 😒 I dont want dragon age to follow trends 🤷‍♂️ it needs to be at least semi unique if not unique 😅 I don't feel the same way about moving...honestly never noticed it but for me the mage doesn't have to move as their meant to control the battlefield from one position...Maybe that's just how I play them. I can't count how many time the tactics mode saved my entire party cause I paused and used a spell to stop damage or to revive them
