As an indigenous person....there's just something about this that rubs me the wrong way. I can't even place my finger on it. The completely casual use of a traditional head dress...the romanticism of a native women marrying a white cowboy....the tacky arrow lighting...not sure. I think it would be so cool to see some actually indigenous representation in the sims. I love the generations challenge but then also deciding to use native americans for the 1800's....we're still here. We are not frozen in the past, we are real people and there something about this whole video that feels very tokenism and stereotypical and just not it. The whole "native women gets with white man" story is over-played and historically most native women got stolen and forced.

I can understand you. It is good that you are telling us how you are feeling and thinking, about these kind of stuff it is important.😊 I think it’s nice, that the native Americans are in the let’s play and our included and a part of the story.🪶

Thank you so much for sharing your insights. I would love any insights you can share as it is an opportunity for us all to learn and grow awareness. I’ve gone into this entire challenge trying to be mindful of others cultures and have shared many times on stream that I’m not the expert and if anything is grossly misrepresented to please educate me. Obviously it is sims and objects and clothing are limited so I’ve made due with what I had and have taken suggestions from the community. I also didn’t set out to intentionally do the “native woman with white man story”. Those sims just took a liking to each other in game so I followed their story. I am more than willing to take this content down. I am not profiting from it in any way (this video was not eligible for monetization due to my stream sound alerts). I apologize sincerely from the bottom of my heart and did not intend any harm or misrepresentation. My hopes are that I can only learn and also that EA and The Sims as a company make it easier to represent other cultures in fairness and without misrepresentation

⁠​⁠​⁠@@FirbyNurbsit’s not about looking the other way. It’s about accurate representation and not pushing misinformation or perpetuating stereotypes. Obviously the creator is open to constructive criticism and wants to create a narrative that doesn’t misrepresent the culture she is trying to include. Telling an indigenous person how to defend their culture is the problem. As a Native American it’s important that we make sure our stories and cultures are not used to perpetuate the colonists narrative.

I don't know if you realized this or not but here goes... It's the Sims! Which is a game! Ok, now that I've got the rudeness out of my system I'll continue. It's not that I don't understand your viewpoint at all, but I do think anyone who gets upset about this kind of video, where the creator fully admits she doesn't know everything and has limited resources because, again, IT'S A GAME, she did the best she could with what's available. Also, what exactly is wrong with a Native American being with someone who's not Native American? Isn't diversity a good thing? The fact that this is even a discussion is kind of ridiculous, broken record here, but IT'S A GAME! It's obviously not meant to be taken seriously, everyone going into it knows it's not historically perfect, though interracial couples did exist in the past. Everyone crying racism always wants it both ways, it's tiresome.

For the native American if they are living there permanently, you can build some small trailers or tow-three yard (round home) for each little family. 🛖🪶🦅🐎🦬

Honestly, you could have still done an 1800 decades challenge without incorporating Native American people so callously like this. Like, you could've just focused on the white upper echelon class who likely didn't care much about what was going on around them. This just feels very wrong, especially because as a player of Sims, we kinda have control over our sims so saying that this just somehow happened naturally between two characters, seems like an attempt to wash hands when caught doing something off. Look, I get it, this is a game, but Native American people's lives and stories aren't a game y'know? Like, they're real actual people and since this challenge mostly requires historical accuracy, this kind of thing just seems way off and not really done justice on. Anyway, love your content, but this was disappointing.
