Today we take a look at the FCR Aero Helmet from Van Rysel.

The helmet was tested at Swissside on a mannequin, head on and at 30 degrees, all tests at 40kph.

Hi Gerard, thanks, the helmet will also come in black and I would imagine team colours for Roubaix and AG2R at some point.

Hey, do you know when a MIPS version of the FCR will be available? I already asked Decathlon support, they said Van Rysel did not told them yet and I also tried to contact VR itself, but they didn't seem to have an imprint/mail... they just refer to their social media, but don't read DMs.

It will not be long, when they appear on the website it normally will be released within that month. Unless something delays release. I will keep an eye out either way.

Hey nice video! Like me, you look like someone with more of a narrow oval shaped head. What helmets would you recommend for that shape - specifically looking for a narrow, low-profile lid. The specialised evade looks a little narrower than the VR in the video. From the video I fear that VR lid is going to look enormous on my narrow oval head. Any other helmets you've tried that had a really narrow low profile fit for an oval head and narrower face? Thanks!

Hi David, the Evade is by far the best fit for me as it sits really low on the head and as you say is narrower. The Gamechanger was close, except the lack of pads made it really uncomfortable. The FCR is a heavier lid but does look and feel really good to ride in. The HJC Furion sat the highest for me and gave a massive shroom/shower cap look which I did not like. Big sunglasses tend to balance this out though 😉

Should I get a FCR or RCR Mips for normal riding 2-3per week ?

Depends what riding you do, if you ride on your own and fast, then get the FCR, if you ride in groups and tend to feel the heat or climb a lot get the RCR. The FCR can be polarising in how it looks, where as the RCR looks more “normal”

@@TheDecathlonMan on weekdays I ride solo, on weekends I ride group with few friends. I don't like strap lock on RCR, I like magnet lock on FCR. But there is no Mips on FCR and no stock in my country.

The FCR will be coming with Mips soon, maybe worth waiting for that in black and AG2R colours

I've read, that the straps are not adjustable. Is that true?

The straps are stitched at the ear junction so not adjustable for the ears, the strap is adjustable at the chin though.
