Gospel
(Lk 1:26-38)
In the sixth month,
the angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin's name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
"Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
"Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel,
"How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.
The Gospel of the Lord: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.
The Word of God for Everyone
Dear People of God,
Today's Word of God speaks about the angel Gabriel bringing the Word of God to the Virgin Mary.
Mary is the most blessed of all women, chosen by God in ancient times. In God's work of salvation, the Virgin Mary is indispensable. She is a woman full of grace, strength and the power of the Holy Spirit. Because she was chosen by God from the beginning of time, the time has come for God to carry out His plan: in the womb of the Virgin Mary, God descended in the form of a fetus under the influence of the power of the Holy Spirit. She was unmarried, but pregnant. That was her legitimate question: I have no relations with a man. How can I have a child? But the angel explained to the Virgin Mary that her pregnancy was not due to human beings, but rather to the power and authority of the Holy Spirit. She believed absolutely in the annunciation, and thus God's promise to save humanity was fulfilled. After her "Yes", God came down to earth as a human being.
The Virgin Mary was the woman chosen by God, and thanks to her "Yes": "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." She is worthy of being the Mother of believers, those who absolutely obey God's will. She believes that there is nothing that God cannot do. So when she heard the angel announce that her cousin Elizabeth was pregnant at an old age, she believed in God's power without any doubt. Through that, God invites everyone in the world today:
Learn from Mary's example of faith in God, and live and practice her example of faith.
When you believe in God, be simple, trust, and do exactly what God has commanded, you will not be tempted by Satan and have your soul taken away from God's loving arms.
Besides, God also calls on people in today's world:
Live with faith, humility, and complete obedience to God. Because only by being humble, self-effacing, listening and practicing God's words can people receive the grace, power and strength that God will bestow upon their own bodies and souls; so that Satan will have to stay away and be defeated by the virtue of humility, obedience and absolute trust in the love of God for the children of mankind.
Look to the example of the Virgin Mary, and try to live and follow what she has taught through her messages, especially through the work of the Holy Spirit. She is the female commander of the Army of Light, the first and only woman who crushed Satan's head and dominated him.
Today, whoever lives and practices the Word of God with a faithful heart like her, under the guidance of the Realistic Word of God, will also have power over Satan, drive him out of the sick and sinners, and bring many souls to God.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
