December 2021 Namibia part 12, Kaokoveld, Himba people and Camp Syncro.

We followed a couple of large Unimog overlanders into Camp Syncro on the Kunene River. We decided to make it a 2 nighter despite not being allowed to swim in the river due to crocodiles. Here we met Sam and Mathilde the first time, on their 6 month journey through Southern Africa, and compared notes. Anna runs Camp Syncro and she is well organised and doing a great job. $150pp was worth it. The next morning we took a nice walk before the temperatures climbed into the high 30's. A small group of Himba people brought their wares for us to see and agreed to photographs (coming later).

Seeing this makes me sad that I was persuaded to turn south at the red drum. OR a reason to return 😂😂

So beautiful, love the ruggedness of Namibia. Do you offer relief to the local people, like those you came across on this video , that were sitting under the tree ?

Thank you for your comment. We always try to support the people we come across. They were selling hand made curios which we purchased, plus we always give some money for photographs.

Thanks Henning. I am going to upload a picture of the map with the 2 passes marked from my phone. The zigzag through the Hartmanns Berge was the most interesting and there is a deserted mine you can go up to right in the zig zag. Don't miss it.

Thank you so much 👍🏾 I will heading north from Orupembe in direction to Rooidrom junction, camp at House on the hill (opposite Marble campsite). I think the pass is behind House on the hill, further north, am I right?

I think you completely misunderstood me. There's nothing wrong with any of the ablutions. We don't normally like camping close to the ablutions, as you always get a stream of people past your camp. 😉
