Thank you so much for doing this! Kudos for expanding access to the stories of foundational “brick” DJs. Will you have an excerpt profile of DJ Derek Smokin’ Jones?? ❤

interesting... yes, it was very competative! Very... Kinda why I gave up spinning the mid 90s from the mid 80s butt... I was there too.

Love the video series but I will say this yes Aly-us follow me is a house track . It’s jersey house in its purest form which came out of the clubs in NYC AND JERSEY on one of the biggest independent House labels of the time when DJ Pierre was there

@DJ2HypeAllVinylHouseHeadDJ Yes, it is. My statement was people that really don't know house always bring up Percolator, which is not a house song, it was adopted into house. and then Follow Me, which is a house song . To put both songs in the same category shows their lack of house music knowledge. Some. Djs that didn't play house music would frequently use these songs to say they played house music. Typically, those djs were hip-hop djs or multi genre djs that were not true to house music culture . Those songs were easy for them to mesh up into their sets to help them try to satisfy house fans that maybe at a wedding or multi genre club. Basically, those were always the go-to songs for none house music djs To say they played house music.

@ the sad part is your right about percolator to me it’s more techno and coming from cajmere sometimes it’s hard to categorize his music especially under his green velvet name . The reason people respond to it that are non true house heads is because of that hard out the box beat . I’ve had conversations with people that claim they know house and can’t even name some of the top artists on trax and dj international RIP BENJI E
