On our last trip of 2023, Winston and I headed to Kingsbury Water Park Camping and Caravanning Club Site on Boxing Day.
Our mini 4-night adventure included a lot of wind, rain, and mud!

So many times through Winston's life I have looked outside at the weather and wished I could stay inside but needed to take Winston for a walk. And then, after a few minutes of being outside, I start to enjoy it. As long as I have on the appropriate clothing, I arrive back home feeling much better than how I left. We toured the UK in September/October last year in a hired motor home. We joined the UK Camping and CaravaningClub before coming over. It was great having those facilities. The staff were so helpful. Did come across one or two dog washes.

I'm a member of the club. I like it because you know you're going to get a suitable pitch with clean facilities. Pre-booking a campsite and then arriving to an unkept place can spoil the whole trip; especially if you have to stay there for the next few days. Thanks so much for watching our videos. Beautiful hot days when arrived in London the first week of September. Weather was variable for us after about the third week. I enjoy watching your videos and young Winston especially. Excellent walking to heel by Winston. Our 12yr old working cocker isn't so good at that because 1) he's a Spanish rescue 2) he's now deaf 3) we got him a bit too late to train properly. Love your videos, thank you and well done.

Winter touring has actually been more enjoyable than I expected. We're lovely and warm inside the caravan and the campsites are nice and quiet. Yes we get wet and muddy, but as long as we clean up properly before going back inside the caravan, it's not a problem. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Regarding the wellies: you need to invest in some Aigle Parcours. They are French, excellent, and designed to support your feet and ankles like walking boots. I used to wear mine for walking the dog, then up to the horses, muck out, poo pick the field, ride, return home and walk the dog again. IOW, I sometimes wore them for 6-8 hours a day and they are SOOOO comfortable. Well worth the money.

Thank you for the recommendation! However, I have flat flexible feet and my podiatrist tells me off for walking in wellies 🙈 (I used to walk Winston in a pair of Hunters.) My short cheap pair of Joules wellies that you see in the video I bought just to walk Winston around the campsite in the morning (wet grass), I didn't intend to walk any distance in them, but at Kingsbury Water Park I had no choice 😂😂 Thanks for watching and commenting.

Love the video. You can get boots that are between wellies and shoes. They are working boots, acid and waterproof with toe protectors. But I have never seen them for woman. On washing dogs. Short piece of garden hose with spray attachment and fits on drinking water tap, or waste water tap. My camera is broken at the moment but planing a winter essential items video for caravans, campervans and motorhomes. Cheers from old George and Jane

Hotel Chocolat do a veletiser it not only heats whatever liquid (milk or water) to the correct temperature but blends the chocolate in as well, on trying to clean Winston Karcher do a battery powered (rechargeable) pressure washer plus they do a pet cleaning kit to go with it could have done with it when I had my last dog a Pyrenees mountain dog trying to keep something white and that size fourth road bridge.

This trip was just a short one, but in the summer we sometimes go away for 4+ weeks at a time and we have to be careful of the weight the van carries/tows. I have some waterproof sailing boots that have good support ..go above my calves and are waterproof like a welly. Bit pricey though. Made by Gil. Also Grunden and Xtra-tuf fishing boots might work as well.

@@Roz.S Have been away from the UK now for the last 27 years, so miss the countryside from back home in the East Midlands. It is very flat and featureless here to the south of Paris. But there are other more exciting places to visit in France. Van life over here would be attractive. We get back to the UK once a year (with a 4 year gap due to the pandemic) where we always rent the same place in Leicestershire surrounded by rolling hills and sheep. Looking forward to our local walks on our next visit in the Spring. The Grand Union Canal is nearby too. Anyway again a great channel 👍🏻. My French wife is loving it too, although the walks in the lake district looked a bit perilous for us but worth it. 😁

The landscape in the Lake District certainly looked impressive. I've never been there, furthest north I've ventured is Halifax! My wife, who is French, has ventured to Scotland & Ireland a few times. Hello Roseanna and Winston , Thanks for your vlogs which have inspired me to start Caravanning again after 50 years and the loss of my partner and my Sheltie both of whom died in 2023. I’ve now rejoined the clubs and bought a used pod and have a young Cavapoo, Lewis - aka the Ginger Ninja. I haven’t been out in the pod yet but am booked for the Lakes at the start of April. It does have an awning rail, but no awnings are made to fit the Go Pods dimensions. I have tried 3 different awnings, along with different ways to secure them such as using limpets and clamps etc, but they never fit properly and just flap around in the wind, and I dislike the noise of a constant flappy tent. So, I gave up on awnings. (I did have a winge about them at this time point in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/op3UfHRrqL9mZsUsi=EYCcwzW7SE_vds4P&t=563). Hope that helps explain. When I walk around the campsite, he’s on a lead, but not when on my pitch. He’s very much a one-person dog and isn’t going to bother anyone walking past or on the next pitch. When out walking, I avoid putting him on a lead at all costs. In my opinion, most of the behaviour problems dogs have are because people keep them on leads and don’t let them be dogs. “A life on a lead is no life for a dog” Thanks for watching and commenting.

I’m a fan of Bob Wells who did a KZbin video on using one of those spray bottles for a shower. He topped up the cold water in the bottle with some boiling water from his gas burner. Apparently it makes the water warm. Just a thought should Winston like a warmer wash down sometimes?
