I think you are still missing something about the consonant diacritics. There aren’t six separate “arrow” diacritics (alveolar voiced, alveolar unvoiced, velar voiced, velar unvoiced, uvular voiced, uvular unvoiced), there are only three (alveolar, velar, uvular). How are voiced and unvoiced consonants distinguished, and where do the other three diacritics come from? The answer is the unvoiced v-shaped diacritic! Try writing a consonant with your uvular voiced diacritic and an unvoiced diacritic, putting the unvoiced diacritic above the uvular voiced diacritic. Then push the diacritics towards each other until they touch each other at their topmost/bottommost points, adjust the angles a little so you have two lines crossing at the meeting point instead of four lines radiating outwards and voila, you have exactly your uvular unvoiced diacritic. The unvoiced “arrow” diacritics aren’t their own symbols, they’re ligatures of two separate diacritics, combined to make writing and reading easier.

Amazing work, so glad that you were featured on Rhystic Studies so I could find your channel, this series, and start learning this wonderful language!

I'd love if weðrm's font was used for a PDF to explain the orthography, capitalizing on how it works as a featural system. I think we can generalize the Phyrexian alphabet into it's own IPA.

You are amazing. I love your work and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing everything that comes from this. (And like many, hope to get an accurate tattoo)

I got curious about the language when I pulled a phyrexian sheoldred, the apocalypse from a booster. I didn't realize how intricate this language is and am so glad I found your series. Thoroughly impressed with your work my man

I just found out about this conlang and more importantly about how it's written. In a way I wish I never did. Several years ago I decided to come up with a cool looking script. It's not a conlang, but basically a substitution cypher for German alphabet. I don't remember ever seeing any example of written phyrexian in my life, but the script I came up with is so similar that I'm now questioning my sanity. It is also written top to bottom, left to right, with a central line going all the way through. The glyphs are different, but with a bit of squinting you could easily mistake it for phyrexian. I was so proud of what I made. I even made a program to convert text to PDFs in my script and read a short novella converted that way. Now all I can think of is that anyone looking at my script must think it's just a cheap copy of phyrexian and I hate it

This is so cool, and I really like how cleanly the language is written out. Thanks for sharing this with us!

I'm at 18:50 and I completely understand it so far but what I find funny is the rolled Rs from Scotland, sometimes instead of saying brother I'll say bröther

I love all the hilarious comments you make while you're pronouncing the letters LOL

I wonder if there are any alternative forms for any letters, because the combination /lm/ and the letter /n/ are identical. It's basically a new IPA. Also there are some manners of articulation that don't have many places they occur in, and many places of articulation that lack certain manners.

My brain too dumb for this XD. I would love to be able to write my partners names in phyrexian though.

Maybe I missed it in the video, but how would you write an r controlled vowel like er in phyrexian?
