Would it be easier to split the cutter on a surface grinder and save wear on the diamond cutter wheel? Thanks.

Either way, you're using a diamond wheel.

I use silicon carbide or aluminum oxide wheels. I have never seen diamond wheels used on a surface grinder. Thanks for responding and your videos are very good.
