Great video! My fluff readings are The Cozy Corgi mysteries and Miss Fortune series (which is hilarious! At least it's funny to my sense of humor). You took me back to 9th grade with The Haunting of Hill House. My girlfriend and I were sitting in study hall reading the book. I wispered to her, 'this girl likes girls.' The teacher came over and asked what I was whispering about. I told her. She said I obviously didn't understand the protagonist and I should think about the deeper meaning of the story. After she left, I whispered to Pam ' she obviously doesn't recognize the deeper layers of the protagonist. ' 😂

Gonna have to check out both of those series once I convince myself that committing to a series isn't actually scary. And I'm not surprised the teacher was so woefully incorrect. She may have even taken it as an insult. Alas, the past. But homosexual folks know homosexual behavior 👏...Unless you meant girlfriend in the straight way, in which case, excellent gaydar.

as someone who was a big YA reader in high school and then dived head first into academic university reading to the point that reading makes me so frickin tired now that ive still only been able to read YA books, i offer you some of my reads: romance wise ive read Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. its a supernatural thriller romance trilogy(?) so not super “warm” but its an easy read. id probably pair it with my ravens prophecy tarot. a book that got me back into reading was Mooncakes. a fun, queer, colourful graphic novel by Wendy Xu and Suzanne Walker with a super warm coming of age love story. my white numen tarot gives similar vibes. and one of my absolutely favourite series ive read is the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. theres a lot of books, mainly a scifi adventure series with added bits of romance but theres a lot of coming of age, found family, figuring out relationships on a whole. closest deck i have to match the vibe is the kim krans alchemy deck but i think her tarot would work well too. sorry for the long comment lol this is my written VR for ya ❤

I don't know if I have the gumption to start a series, unfortunately, but I will definitely note those recommendations. Maybe I should re-read the Uglies series to remind myself that multiple books are good, actually. I think I'd tackle The Raven's Prophecy serious out of pure curiosity. I wish I could do graphic novels, but for complicated reasons, they are NOT the medium for me. I don't do manga, either, unfortunately. It has to do with my dyslexia and the tricks I use to cope with it. I can barely do comic strips! But honestly I hope to get past that some day with how you've described Mooncakes. Thank you for your lovely long comment! It is respected and appreciated.

Hi Roaen. Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read most of her books dating all the way back to pigs in heaven and animal dreams. Prodigal Summer is probably my fav. The Mary El is a great choice for poisonwood bible. I just purchased the Jupiter power tarot. Mostly because it has my favorite color palette, which is lots of blues and greens. But I agree that the Mars power tarot would go really well with Carrie. I have been reading Stephen King since I was in high school, which was a long time ago. My favorite book of his is “the stand”, although the shining is a total classic as is Carrie. Great video!

I've been reading Stephen King since I was way too young to be reading Stephen King. I think I picked up my first King at 10? So reading his voice is like coming home. I love finding a fellow King fan! And Kingsolver too, I'll definitely take your recommendations!

Same struggle here to get into reading as an adult 🥲 sorry for not giving any exact recomendations, but maybe you could find a book of short stories to alternate between those denser themes 🤔 thanks for the video! Was very fun and the picks for the book were very acurrated! 👌🏼💗

Oooo, I have a short story book on my Kindle that needs my attention... Thank you for commenting, and I forgive you for not following my (very clear, frankly) instructions to do unnecessary work for me. I will call off the hounds. 😂 Una, love seeing your username pop up! Thanks for commenting!

@@RoaenHere hahahaha i’m running through water for missing those hounds 🥵🤣 Ps: my name is Francisca (Fran), sorry that my old as f*ck usser name that i’m fond off and that’s not my real name confused you 😅😘 Ps2: the user name translates to “a sneaker” because I loved sneakers when in my teens 🤣🙄

2nd comment: This video is so timely because I just recently started pairing books and decks together. I’m reading women who run with the wolves right now, and I just decided to pair it with the circle of doors tarot. I also just started reading Clarice Lispector book “near to the wild heart” (I believe I got that book recommendation from you unless I’m mistaken). And I think I have decided to pair it with the Hayworth tarot. I’m having a lot of fun with this book and deck pairing.

Oh, no. I wish it had been me, but I'm not cool or cultured enough to have recommended Clarice Lispector. I will absolutely check them out now, though! How do you use the decks while you read? I've been using tarot while I video game, but I'm fascinated by possibly using tarot while I read. I think that would help me get back into it!

@@RoaenHere When I’m reading a book (nonfiction works best in my opinion), and I come across a phrase or a concept or a quote that captivates me, I will sometimes stop and do a reading. For example, today in women who run with the wolves, I read “when a woman is cut away from her basic source, she is sanitized, and her instincts and natural life cycles are lost…“. I really resonated with this quote. I was in a 25 year marriage with an abusive husband who squashed me like a bug under his boot every single day until my very essence was crushed into the dirt. So when I read this quote, I pulled a few cards about how to heal from this type of trauma and how to best recapture my power. So, Im really loving this part of my practice right now. It’s very healing.

@@megadele65 Thank you so much for sharing that, wow. I'm happy to hear that you had such a healing experience with the practice. I deal with abuse CPTSD from my mother's awful partners, and have been healthily triggered (catharsis cries) by tarot readings and writing reading alike. I am so frequently struck by literature that it's a requirement of a book, really, and I can even see myself doing this with poems to get back into that too. Oh, that's so magical and healing, thank you.

Yes, Mary-El is certainly its own thing... I don't know if it's more religious than other decks, I feel like RWS is more so. The angel cards are... but angels can just be super meta. I love Shirley Jackson. I read some of her not spooky stuff, and she's slightly off kilter 50's barely staying out of the asylum vibe. 🤩 The writing is brilliant. You put some books on my reading list! I love that. ❤ I'm reading a Carl Hiaassen right now to give my brain a break!
@RoaenHere5 ай бұрын
Angels are just a big sore spot for me that I'm trying to move beyond. I've always found the concept of angels a little, well, silly, but by "concept" I mean the pop culture understanding of angels-pretty men with wings in white robes. But I have no problem conceptualizing a large, powerful superconscious that isn't quite willful but but instead is almost the embodiment of the will of the universe. Which sounds a lot like an angel to me. So I'm working on that, ha! Meanwhile the art of the RWS feels like nods to older cultural metaphors rather than a genuine expression of Christianity. I guess I worry the Mary-El will feel like being witnessed to, which is definitely a Me Thing. I'm currently slowly reading The Sundial, and then I want to tackle We Have Always Lived In The Castle. Love Shirley Jackson's mind!! Such clever characterization, too. Gonna have to check out Hiaassen!

@RoaenHere yeah, the MaryEl angels are waaaaay on the other side of meta. It takes work and time to get all the stuff in the deck. I suggest watching some of the study videos on the deck. I really enjoyed Elemental Cartomancy (his are lives) and Sanskrit Blue. Both channels did some great study vids.
