They try to treat me decently, but they (VA) have to follow their top down medicine and the ruling institutions such as the CDC, APA and the like set the policies that they have to follow. Those agencies are setting medical policies that are detrimental and reduce lifespan. It's in civilian hospitals as well. I got ugly PTSD and a very difficult time enjoying life. It's a very high price to pay and there is no cure. It's not possible to get my old self back, to get my love of life back. My father served 30yrs. Retired SGM. Had over 300 jumps, got multiple concussions, suffered extreme PTSD from multiple deployments. When I was going to enlist he was totally against it, and he even talked me out of it. After college when I was all set to embark on entrepreneurship he tried talking me into becoming an officer, but at that point I was no longer 18, and had vision for my own future which he accepted. As a person who has several generations of military service in my family, including myself and my brother, I raised my son to be patriotic and to believe he had a duty to serve his country when he finished high school or college. However, when he was old enough to join the military, I discouraged him from joining. Not because I didn't love my country, but because I didn't want him serving under a government as corrupt and unpatriotic as what our leaders have become. Even now, I would give my life to defend out constitutional republic, but I wouldn't sacrifice a rotten egg for "our democracy".

This has nothing to do with gays or lesbians. This is a constant attack on constitutional rights, gun laws, borders, and freedom of speech. My nephew graduated this year and one kid out of about 200 were joining the military. In my graduating class of 2003 40 of us signed up at 17 to go to basic in between junior and senior year but they tricked us good. I’m glad there are still patriots signing up and we’re going to need them but they don’t even hide the corruption anymore so I don’t blame the ones who don’t join. Not at all. Still thank your son for his service. Most will have to be drafted.
