I’m 44 & have cards from my grandmother & grandfather from when I was kid . I just store them in a shoe box . I just watched a video on making a journal with old cards it’s so cool I’m going to try it !

I think it's perfectly ok to keep them in a shoebox, but a journal would be nice! I hope your project turns out just how you want.

I just recently went through all of my greeting cards and decluttered over half of them, too! I only saved my favorite/most special ones and will probably try to reuse the rest (cut off the fronts and send them as postcards, etc.). I very rarely receive greeting cards anymore so that's helped a lot. I usually just put them away in a box, although here lately I will display the ones I do receive for a short time then I photograph and get rid of them when I take them down. You looked so beautiful in this video, can't wait for more decluttering from you! :)

Kaci Burns Wow, good job! Great idea on using them as postcards, that seems to be a thing of the past. When cards are displayed, they are definitely enjoyed...I think I need to start doing that. Thanks for the compliment! :) I hope to get to more decluttering soon! I have things in mind that need to be sorted and purged.

I saved bundles of old greeting cards for years but I recently decluttered many of them. I'm glad I did - it makes the extra special cards you save so much more meaningful :) Good topic.

nancybee77 Yes, getting rid of some makes the ones you keep more special. That's great that you went through them and got rid of a bunch!! It IS a nice feeling to let them go. :)

I used to display them for a week and then toss until I married my hubby and he introduced me to the concept of saving cards, then I was like...oh, I didn't realize you were supposed to save them...fast forward 15 years and now I have boxes full of cards to go through because I do want to pick out a couple from family and friends. Using the KonMari method to declutter my house now, so I'm saving the memorabilia until the end.

Good idea to save the memorabilia until the end, as this is the most difficult to go through. I can imagine how many cards would be saved up after 15 years! Wishing you the best in your journey! ;)

I know this is a really old video, but was there a part 2 where went through the ones you had?

Hey, I hope your move went well. The new place looks like it is going to be beautiful. I love that you do these small category items when you film. These things add up so quickly and it is nice to be reminded to clean them out!

Ruby Rouge Thank you! I hope it turns out nice. ;) So far things have been good, it sure was a busy time...and I still have a little left to unpack. Thanks for letting me know you like the small category video. Yes, little things DO add up!

I keep the latest cards and I am glad I always do because some people pass away suddenly and then I still have their last greetings to me. The rest gets tossed.

That's a great way to discard old greeting cards! Thanks!

OMG! What a cool idea. I love greeting cards but I feel like they are a waste of money. I used to collect them but when I went paperless I took pictures of all of them one by one front and inside and then I threw them all out. I should have added up all of the prices on the back. It would be interesting to know how much money was spent on them collectively.
@clearingclutterforclarity15089 жыл бұрын
Deedra Boodram They sure are a lot of fun, but can get pricey! I know people who only sign cards and rely on the printed message to get the point across, and others who only read what is handwritten and and not what printed message says. :/ I like the idea of taking pictures of the cards, if it was something to remember, yes, definitely take a picture!

I saved cards my whole life. I am 65. Just now ready to let go of most.

I found some cards from my mother ( who is with Jesus in his glory) going back to random years of my youth. Some are invaluable, others not so much, take a picture and email it to yourself.

I have Valentine's cards given to me by my classmates in elementary, birthday, Christmas, graduation etc cards and it's so hard to get rid of them. I did throw away every single card my ex had given me just out of respect to my husband but other than that I have all form family and friends but I'm trying to declutter, I have so many things I don't know how to do it i get so emotional. Ugh! It's so hard 😭😭
@clearingclutterforclarity15084 жыл бұрын
I completely understand, I still struggle with it. I’m sure your husband appreciated you getting rid of old cards. Take it one step, one item at a time and you’ll get there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Hugs 💞
