We unpack as soon as we get home. It is my way to feel settled and at ease. Much less anxiety. It is much easier for me to get back into a routine if everything is right back to normal! Love your decluttering, way to go!

I was watching a show recently that said the average amount of things in a persons house was 300,000! Made me want to declutter right then and there. 😂 Taking it in small chunks is really satisfying, and way less overwhelming. Love watching your process!

Hi again Amanda, the minute you openned your top drawer, I said to myself, "Why does she use her dresserfor papers when she has her very own office downstairs that she could store that there." Good for you - go girl and declutter! Now you wouldn’t beleive how organized my drawers and wardrobes are…and they’ve been that way my whole life. Presently I’m using that method (name I can never remember) and just love it. Once you get the hang of it, it’s not very much longer. What I LOVE about this is I open up my drawer and see everything I own in one glance. Before they were stacked one on top of the other and I didn’t always take the time to look and just grabbed the top one (that would then get washed folded and put back on top, so I always wore the same t-shirts - my hubby was for sure always grabbing the top one). Now I can see right off and choose. So rewarding. Also suggestions for your bras - do not turn your cups inside out to store. The space you’re using now you could store your bras in by just tucking in your straps (shoulder and back into the inside of your cups and store them one on top of the other, or like me, standing up.

I pave done laundry in the most amazing places! My Son (40 yrs old) found me sitting with my feet in a Baby Grand shaped pool in Disney World outside the launderette waiting for our laundry to finish, he thought I was nuts. I bought slugs for coins in Glasgow Scotland to use their laundromat. Last night of vacation I always do our laundry, it makes coming home so easy, open the suitcases put it away!

Hi Amanda 👋🏾 I'm with you...I'm the worst at unpacking. It takes me about a week at minimum....lol! I too love going on vacation and having access to a washer/dryer to wash before coming home. It saved SO much time but gotta work on unpacking timely 😜 I also love decluttering spaces in my home and still have many spaces to tackle. Thank you for some good motivation!! I force myself to unpack and start laundry as soon as I get home (unless I should be going to bed) because it makes the next day go smoothly; that said, it’s just me, not a whole family’s items to unpack. I’m a fancy folder for my tops that go in my dresser-I don’t like the chore of it, but I love how it allows me to see all of my tops when I open the drawers, so I keep doing it. If I had a walk in closet I would probably hang all tops, trousers and dresses.

Have you thought of changing your theater room into a guest room? That way your guests would have a bathroom in the room and a door? Then, you could use the room you're currently using as a guest room for storage. Plus, you already have the loft for family gathering and movie watching. Just a thought.😊

I used to travel all the time. I would organize my suitcase so it was packed per drawer. I usually unpack within 12-24 hours after being home. However, I still haven't gotten up the courage to sort my bedside tables!

I only have 5 pairs of socks and I think it way enough for me as I only have a pair of feet. That makes my socks storage space very neat and clean.

I always unpack as soon as we got home ! If we were gone longer then 2 days ,I would do laundry ,repack and put everything away when we got home . I usually sit down in an hour after we get home with a cold glass of tea. Not bad for an old lady ! LOL !

I take the time to fold "fancy" (I have a folding board like Sheldon) and put things away neatly so my drawers are always organized and I rarely have to do drawer clean outs like this. It takes a little longer to put laundry away but it saves me lots of time and frustration in the long run. I can see everything so when I declutter my clothes seasonally I don't have to take everything out and make a huge mess. I just grab what I haven't worn and off it goes. Keeps things peaceful for me.

Hi, I've been working on a massive declutter. One of the things I don't do is subscribe to buy & save programs. It just brings more stuff into your home. There's no need to stockpile a bunch of stuff like deodorant and soaps. I also found that during Covid that I bought a bunch of craft supplies and stockpiled them. I know that we would buy some sort of cleaning products every time we went to the store and now have tons of it.😮 Thanks for sharing your journey!

I really like doing the Marie Kondo thing with my dresser pants and shirts if I kept them in a dresser. I don't feel like that kind of folding takes any longer really, and I can always see everything in the drawer instead of things getting lost. Everything stands up on their end!

I have to pack the day we get back and I always try to do laundry before we come home! It’s so nice to just put things away. I pack carefully so everything comes out together and I just put away. But that’s my compulsion. Lol

My bedroom is never clottered. I put everything away and never put clothes on the floor. The only thing on the floor every night are my decoratives pillows that are on my bed. I feel a bedroom needs to be tidy at all time. It's so much more relaxing when you go in at night. Eveything is nice and clean.

Try using white or black dishpans from dollar tree to organize your drawers. Super affordable and they work great. I use them in all my family’s drawers to separate clothes. Jamie’s journey recommended them on her vlogs😀

I have sooo much decluttering to do but I have no motivation. I go into my sewing room and stay busy sewing and other stuff all day. I have always hung up my pants. When I was working, I must of had 50+ pairs of black slacks. My daughter and I did declutter my closet which was great. For the plant, I recently purchased a bottle of Miracle Grow liquid plant food. That might help your plant. It's very concentrated so it should last a long time. Good luck Amanda.

I don’t swap my decor. I collect fine art, decorate and then keep it clean. I’m even simplifying my holiday decorating. For example, I’m going to paint a folk mural on my front door so I don’t need any wreathes!

Take your plants out so they can get fresh air and hose them down lighty so the dust comes off their leaves and allow them to a good soak, even putting them in your shower to rinse off and water....it needs a spot near more light too. Good luck

Suggestion : Remove rest of the stuff on top of cabinet. Use some of the decor things to decorate that cabinet top . Also will clear some more space in cabinet.

Packing cubes are the best! Water clothes in one cube. Shoes, dress wear, outfits all in their each cube. Wonderful and easy! Everyone has their own cubes.

Buy a folding boards for your clothes like they use in stores when customers pull an item out of a pile and don’t put back then your clothes will look very neat and it only takes seconds to do x

love yer videos. I like 2 c them 2 relax... as far as declutter, I do not; because I actually need 2 buy things, so that's that. I have given it much thought and I have nothing 2 declutter. I organize my things not 2 b fancy, but because it's practical 4 me 2 have them as u say fancy; because they r in a filesystem, they stay that way and do not mess up. I have very few jeans, maybe a handful and they r decorated. I actually fold them, as I said in a file style. everything else I hang because I like 2 iron everything, even my sheets, and pillowcases, because it looks very nice. I am a very visual person and like 2 look at my things. It just makes me happy, and I look at them like a child would, so... try it 1 day... 2 fold in a file system... it might actually help u save time, as it has me, and teach the boys because as the saying goes. "tidiness is next 2 godliness"... and this might give them more time and give u free time as well...

I decluttered all my cupboards and wardrobes/dressers at the beginning of May and it gave me so much peace once it was all done and donated about 10 sacks to charity, I agate to say quite a bit we’re new unworn that either no longer liked or were too big. My clothes, I wash, iron straight away and hang most things but those that do go in dressers I do fold very specific as I’m a bit anal when it comes to things being very tidy, even when I come back from holidays I empty the cases straight away and get the washing started. So your decluttering videos bring me so much peace and calm ❤

Loved the video!!!! Always gives great motivation! For your plants: my horticulture teacher always used the motto “drench, let dry” not all plants you can do this with but a good majority will do well with that. So literally drenching your plant then letting the soil dry. Also, don’t let your plant have standing water at the bottom of the tray. It can cause root rot. So if your using the pot the plant came in (plastic ones) then putting in another decorative pot that doesn’t have drainage holes it could be causing water to pool and sit at the bottom of the pot. Your large one in your bedroom may be root bound. Take it from its current pot, shake off all soil, rinse the roots clean and then repot in fresh soil in a pot with drainage holes. Hope this helps. It’s all a learning process with plants. 💜💜💜

Hi Amanda. Welcome home! I tend to unpack in the bedroom right away, since everything is close to put away, then the suitcases can be stored in the basement again. As for how I organize my clothes, I fold the jeans and shorts and they go on open shelves, along with hoodie sweatshirts. Pants get hung. The shirts that don’t get hung up are folded so the graphic can be seen-mostly for my husband’s tees-and so they fit nicely in the drawers. Another great video. I sorted out kitchen drawers with you today. Another chore crossed off the list!

Declittering and organizing is my fav. I unpack in one day. I can’t stand luggage and bags everywhere. I wash before I pack, both times, clean clothes in clean clothes out, so it’s just get home and put away. The more organized I keep the luggage the easier it is to stock the drawers and closets.

I always unpack and put away immediately - I've learned my lesson the hard way! I have a houseplant app - just take a picture and it'll diagnose the problem and tell you what to do. It's literally saved lives (plant lives only thank goodness!)

Amanda, you had a plan and you stuck to it 🙌🏽 I'm someone who won't declutter as much but rather focus more on repurposing or selling things. I know what it's like to not have the means to buy things as I can now. No impulsive purchases that accumulates more than necessary but recently I decluttered all of my makeup plus 3 random junk drawers. I felt cleansed. I need to declutter 1 large storage bin of gifting supplies. Will come back and tell you once done. I will upkeep my bedroom and home. I love a clean home and don't do well with a mess. As for my clothes, I hang my pants. I have so many from dressy to workout which I use. It would take up too much room to fold. I also am fancy with folding shirts and I keep them color coordinated. 1 drawer for L/S and Sweaters, 1 for S/S and tees and 1 for tank tops. I go overboard on organization but it makes me happy 😊👍🏼

You are so funny. I fold my shirts just enough. I read "Girl wash your face," I thought it was pretty good. I have books I haven't read in awhile. I want to declutter out family area. Been a catch all since we moved in 2 years ago. Think I'll zone it first. We don't have a basement . We have to redo the floor cause it flooded before we moved it. It wasn't bad. Got that fixed. It had nasty carpet so I don't miss that.

I love to use the Ikea Skubb organizers for the drawers, using the Marie Kondo folding style for a couple of years now, it keeps all the clothes and closets tidy! Even the dresser of our 2yo! We went to the Caribbean in May and arrived home at 7am in the morning of a 9 hour flight. It was a Sunday and very hot so I unpacked 3 suitcases, 3 hand luggage and did 5 loads of washing pinned them all on the line, folded what didn't need ironing and put them away.
