Thanks a lot for the great instruction. I have chosen to not update the IRremote library so that I can follow your description by the book. The problem I'm facing though is that the serial monitor is showing hex code continously being written without me sending any IR signal. Do you know what the problem might be? I'm using TSOP38238.

Simplest way is with PC. Build a serial IR receiver(5 electronic components) and an app called "Girder" 👍
